I'm curious to see how Aurelion Sol will perform

More specifically, I'm interested to see how well he'll do with a near non-existent mana regen stat. I think he's probably a bit of an experiment on Riot's part to see if it's a good idea to limit mages on how much mana they can regen over long periods of time/how good it is to force them to build straight up larger mana pools. However, he's still somewhat of a safe experiment simply because he's only 1 champion AND his passive doesn't cost any mana to maintain.

Not gonna lie, I secretly hope he blows ass and they forgot this whole thing because I think it's a bad idea, but I'm genuinely curious to see if it's possible for mages to function properly with awful mana regen and large mana pools. Thoughts?

Note : I am of course basing all this on the information available on this page, so if he does in fact have normal mana regen disregard this thread XD

Side note : And wtf is up with his ridiculously low HP regen too? Now I'm sad I missed the Q&A about him, I'd love to know why they think he needs to be so weak outside of hard engage comps.

I'm thinking he'll be pretty good with his Q.

I think you are mistaken about his mana costs. They are not as bad as you think. I tried him in PBE and i didn't have almost any issue.
