Dear Riot, split Brutalizer into two items

One that gives AD and CDR, and one that gives AD and armor penetration.

Making new AD items with CDR and/or armor pen would be a lot less of a hassle if these three stats weren't joined at the hip. You wouldn't have to rely on shoehorning Kindlegem into everything.

I wish brutalizer still built into black cleaver, I don't think I will ever get used to it not doing so.

I hate Kindlegem. It's such a stupid item.

I still wait for the day we get a CDR armor item that doesn't involve Glacial Shroud item 3024 or Kindlegem item 3067

I remember a similar thread quite a while ago (back in the original Item Discussion sub-forum).

Making them into smaller components means they cost less, which in turn makes both of their stats more accessible. An early AD + CDR or AD + Arm.Pen. item (as early as the first recall) will cause a huge power spike for ADs - especially if they can purchase both and probably end up getting more AD in combination than Brutalizer would give alone.

It can be done if you make them build just like Brutalizer with 2 Longswords in their recipe, and a slightly smaller price, but otherwise you are making it worse by making the individual unique stats easier to acquire.

Id say that is fine if they both are of similar price to brutalizer, or just slightly cheaper. I see what you're getting at with how making them more accessible faster can be hazardous, so we should avoid that. I think the point of separating the CDR and the armor pen is so that the upgraded items don't need to have both of those stats as well, and thus be easier to balance.

Of course, but you would probably end up including both in any AD + CDR + Arm.Pen. item, right?

I'm for it if it means finally fixing the pile of stats that is Youmuu's and actually providing more Arm.Pen. items.

You sure would, but it would be more expensive (almost double) that of brutalizer now, as well as taking up an extra item slot.

And i second that one, Yomous seems like a mess to me

just alittle ad you have to get alot of concituve hits off for the armor pen to mean much and its one of the few ad items in the game that give cdr. only people who are natually tanky and have good ad ratio can pull this off in the first place. tanks tend to have longer cooldowns than everyone else thats why this is a core item on tanky tops

I think we definitely need an AD + CDR item separate from item 3134. Whenever Riot tries to make a top-tier item that has both of those stats, the resulting build is fairly awkward (the new item 3707 enchantment built from a item 1037 + item 1036 , for example), and it's been clear since the days of Spirit of the Elder Lizard that there's a clear gap in AD itemization, which such an item needs to fill.

With that said, I'm also not a fan of the Brutalizer, and I feel it should disappear. The item's really powerful as an early game purchase, and I think it's one of the things actually holding back AD casters: champions like Talon , Pantheon and Zed get a massive early game power boost from this, to the point where they need weaker later picks just so that they don't snowball completely out of control (the flat armor pen also falls off pretty quickly as the game progresses). It's also impossible to create a diverse selection of AD + CDR items from the Brutalizer, since it would lead to a lot of flat armor pen stacking, which just destroys squishies even later on. With the Brutalizer out of the way, AD casters would likely be allowed far better access to AD + CDR items, and likely much smoother itemization overall.
