I don't have a PBE account, and I can't find if it explicitly says so on Surrender at 20, are pink wards still a thing or were they removed for the new discount control ward?

Vision Wards are gone but they are replaced by "Control Wards".

Control wards do not reveal stealth but they do reveal Camouflage e.g. Evelyn passive and Rengar's ultimate. Other sources of stealth they will no longer work on.

In addition Control Wards disable and reveal nearby enemy wards and destructible traps (like Jhin traps, Shaco Boxes or Teemo Shrooms, but not Cait traps because those don't have hitpoints). Disabled wards don't provide any vision and disabled traps can't trigger. If you throw a stealth ward into a bush that has a Control Ward in it you'll get vision for about half a second before the your Stealth Ward gets "stunned" by the pink and will no longer do anything.

So basically they are the same thing as Vision wards but they're more powerful for vision denial but useless against stealth.
