New Spellthief item is useless

Why would you ever use this over a relic shield? You get no bonus damage on attacks anymore, meanwhile relic shield still shares gold with your laner. You have a much harder time stacking it just because you have to land abilities, then you have no mana to really spam botlane anymore anyways.

Its only 20 more AP than relic. It literally gives nothing of value. Its 100% useless. Even on mages, why would you go that item over a relic? You share your gold with your laner, stack it faster, a bit more tanky, and you lose just a pittance of AP.

Like, it has to be an oversight how bad this item is. I mean why does relic shield still share gold with your laners, but spelltheif doenst keep its extra damage on proc passive? It has literally no value right now.

item 3850 is still statistically better than item 3858 on most of the champions that preferred item 3310 . There are a few that it is kind of close, but when the less popular is lower win rate there is not much of a compelling reason to switch. The one exception I see is Sona , and the difference appears to get bigger the higher elo the stats are from. So maybe people should try item 3858 on her more.

I agree. I used to main Janna. She was a poking monster, I'd spam the ever living HELL out of my Zephyr on botlane and force them out of lane singlehandedly, WHILE making great gold for a support. Now.... I'm just wasting mana if I play like that. It sucks

Despite the flack people give Riot sometimes they do notice when an item that should be used doesn't get used. The best way to get their attention is to not use it.

Spell thief was always an item that rewarded aggressive play, with the mana constraints and no bonus damage it no longer does that.

Give Mana Regen back to the base item. Reduce AP if necessary. Fixed.

also a note for support items if you complete the quest to get any 3 tiered support item if you sell it, and get a different one it starts off tier 3
