Ekko is now above 57% winrate.

SlaktarTasken··139 votes·7,637 views

57.47% winrate today 2016-04-10 Highest winrate champion in the game (when played top).

Counters the most champs in the game.

63.45% winrate pre 25m.

32% banrate only trumphed by Malphite, Zed and Master Yi, and rising. (But sadly not fast enough)

Playerbase avarage games = 25 (has a VERY inexperienced playerbase)

Very experienced Ekko players avarage at almost 60% winrate.

Beginner/inexperienced Ekko players avarage at about 54% winrate. (High skillfloor where are you?)

What's to be said about this? All data more or less indicates that this champion is incredibly scewered at the moment. But honestly, who cares about data, anyone who's been on the recieving end of this monster knows how incredibly frustrating he is to deal with, and that the ammount of resources needed to keep him in check is well beyond staggering and simply, NOT. FAIR.

So the quesiton is:

When will this be adressed?

PBE looks dissapointing as fuck, minimal nerfs to base damages, huge buffs to ap ratios. No mobility changes, no windows of opportunity created. No cd changes.

[zombie-brand-clap] Yeah, this will "do the trick". Whatever man.

Prediction after the PBE changes, Ekko builds ROA>Full tank and does more damage than before. Still just as cancer.

He needs like 200 AP to break even with his live damage at max rank, ROA + Iceborn is not enough even at full stacks. And that build will also make him squishier than one who actually builds full tank, and give him a weak early game.

If he out mind games you with Parallel Convergence he's still going to be a PITA, though.

Diananmen Square4 votes

He can still use item 3001 item 3157 item 3027 very well together and still has room for boots and 2 tank items.

LankPants4 votes

He doesn't need 200 AP for his damage to break even because he has other damaging abilities. Building ROA>Tank he'll deal the same damage if not a little more since he has ratios on his other abilities too.

no you know what this post is just so freakin stupid its people like you that just love watching champions people are enjoying get nerfed. "so the question is when will this be addressed?" your complaining about a champion LABLED ASSASSIN DOING DAMAGE?? just give riot a break their doing a good job.

Did you even read the post? Nowhere did I say anything about any of his characteristics.

If they were doing a good job we wouldn't have to b*tch about this.

Also, where has anyone complained about Ekko doing damage? Are you living in some kind of bubble? I don't have problems with Ekko doing damage. I do however have problems with Ekko being more mobile than pretty much every fighter, building tanky as shiiiiiet, providing support class utility WHILE DOING SHITTONS OF DAMAGE. He should NOT get to eat the entire cake and get to keep it, that is NOT how it should work.

IronicGentleman13 votes

See, the problem with Ekko right now is that he gets to have his cake, eat it, save some for later, eat that, then go back in time and repeat. All while being so tanky that you can't kill him after he goes back in time, so he gets to go have his cake, eat it, save some for later, eat that, then go back in time and repeat.

Retillin10 votes

Wait, wait. Are you saying a high damage, high base stats, high mobility, high utility assassin is problematic to balance?

IronicGentleman3 votes

No! Nothing of the sort! I'd never go so far as to say such a thing!

If you're thinking he should have to build damage to do damage, then you should be happy with the PBE changes, because that's exactly what they do.

no you know what this post is just so freakin stupid

His win rate is too high, this isnt people "enjoying" a champion, its people enjoying abusing the strongest champions in the game.

At the end of season 5, Vayne was THE META ADC, and every match had her, or she go banned. In normz it was 2 Vaynes. This wasnt because so many people were "enjoying" her, its because she was too good and out performed every other ADC by doing huge amounts of true damage, and blowing up people with both crazy sustained damage, and outplay mechanics/CC. People rush to the flavor of the month and try to dick-ride that freelo champ.

Ekko, has crazy outplay mechanics, is super popular cause hes overloaded and overpowered. He gets to be a really tough tank, and kite really well, and do % HP damage also. He has high base damages as well. He has too much in his kit, and he is winning more games than a champion of his type should.

He has to be nerfed, suck it. Why even bother comming in and being a white knight for broken champs?

lets face it the second he gets nerfed in patch 37.832 every one will just have a new op champ taric

I believe the PBE changes are small because they plan on nerfing/changing IBG and other tank items that are also making him out of line.

That feels like a bad idea considering why Nerf the items when its only the champion that's abusing it. Its like when Ez was abusing everything imaginable and yet he hardly gets touched and its always the items that get changed

The items are so potent that tank Akali is being played abusing the sunfire + grasp of the undying + iceborne items. In fact, I'm pretty sure a lot of sticky melee types could run those three items and do decently (Poppy, Malphite, etc).

Except literally any champion can use both sunfire/IBG to great effective lengths, so its an appropriate nerf.

Wait a minute, people think Ekko has a high skill cap? The only aspect of his kit that is even remotely difficult to use is his stun, but not because of the Ekko player. The skill is incredibly easy to avoid. Take a look at the average Ekko progame, you'll notice that he usually doesn't land his stun. Like... ever. It's almost always walked out of or at best forces a flash. To me, that says something about the champion design. If you can have a skill that is rarely effective, yet still be an S tier pick, something is fucked up.

RoodToob5 votes

Skill cap and skill floor are vastly different. An example of this is Zed : Zed is easy to pick up(skill floor), and do alright with. But to be an amazing zed and crush teams almost alone (Skill ceiling, like a lee sin) you gotta get really good with him.

Handin Out Naps6 votes

Ekko does have a pretty high skill cap tbh, his entire kit relies on predicting, and setting stuff up.

TonyTonyMordecai2 votes

Yeah, landing a W stun is something I'm still trying to land in lane, without hiding in a bush.

Saianna3 votes

If we go with that logic, then Zilean and Teemo are also high skill cap champions.

Supreme Senpai695 votes

It's sorta... true though. You can't just throw mushrooms in lane. You scout their jungle with wards, see what routes they take, where they gank, when their buffs are back up. You use mushrooms in places they have to step on. The radius is actually pretty small and easy to walk around without knowing its there. Whenever a Bard is playing I put mushrooms on his chimes, before his chimes, after his chimes, etc. Mushrooms in bushes where they back. Make their jungle yours and go invisible in it, wait till they hit a mushroom, blind at the right time, etc.

He has a low skillfloor though. If you know how to right click you can do well with him. But, his skillcap is high too. Requires a lot of knowledge of the game.

Check the PBE.

They are trying some things. Namely, reducing his base damage, increasing his AP ratios, iirc.

And still gonna leave his incredibly stupid (No u can't trade back, yes I just killed u under ur tower and only took one tower hit) passive MS procs, no increased cooldowns to spammable dash?

With other words, a slap to the wrist to ensure he stays in LCS... how quaint.

Zerfallen4 votes

Okay.

Or they could do nothing at all. Or they could over nerf him.

Oh, wait the PBE is iterative and there could be a few changes prior to these ones going live.

Hell, you might even a revert if you are lucky.

Amorenkaire7 votes

{quoted} When will this be adressed?

Next patch. Reduced base damage on his passive w and e. Frozen fist is being nerfed. Grasp of the Undying is being nerfed. Those are four nerfs to tank ekko right there.

The problem with Ekko isn't him by himself, per say. When played as an Assassin/Mage he has to stand back and wait for opportunities to do burst damage without being constantly on your ADCs. Its his hyper mobile, sticky kit with tank items and the grasp of the undying + sunfire + iceborne gauntlet combo. If they just nerfed Ekko it would just open itself up to the next sticky character that can use those items (hello Akali?).

TL;DR: Tank Ekko is getting two direct nerfs and two nerfs to the items that allow him to do relevant damage. He's being addressed.

63536895_DEL6 votes

Ekko is a champion that should have never been released, just like Illaoi, Tahm, Kalista, so many toxic mechanics just for the sake of being new.

Clue4 votes

Ekko is incredibly stupid right now but he's damn fun to play as. He's pick, ban or dodge for me right now.

iainB854 votes

I remember multiple "hot" threads within the past few months joking about, "Buff Ekko more" when he was already in a good spot.

It's scary how bad Riot's balance team is doing this season. I mean legit scary.

DEmperor953 votes

Tank Ekko is a big problem. Riot has nerfs for his base damages, Grasp mastery, and IBG as well on the PBE at the moment.

Other Ekko playstyles beside Tank Ekko are fine.

TyroneWatermelon2 votes

Hey guys do you want to know why all assassins are hated so much? Because every single one of them got point and click gap closer,or spammable AOE one

Serika Zero1 votes

to stop tank ekko all they have to do is removed heal from ultimate and maybe lower the base on his shield that's all

QjTHqo3RTq3 votes

REMOVE THE HEAL ON ULT

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Serika Zero1 votes

Ekko ult heal is the only thing that allows him to play tanky. Every single champion in this game that can play tank has a way to improve: their hp, their armor, their magic resis or take less damage thx to their skill mechanic (for example braum shield, alistar ultimate or maokai ultimate).

Ekko has none of that except his ultimate heal. With it removed, he becomes a "budget" and "weak" tank.

Amorenkaire2 votes

His w provides a health shield (pretty pathetic without HP, but still). Amumu barely has any mechanics to resist damage (his e reduces auto attacks still, right?). But you're pretty on the ball when it comes to tanks, the only 'tank' that doesn't have any sort of those mechanics is Zac, who instead regains missing HP.

Note, though, that you don't need these mechanics to play tanky. For example like I said, right after Tankko there's Tankali (not as good, but still a thing).

Supreme Senpai694 votes

I'd rather remove the damage on it. The entire point of the ult is that he goes back in time to a place where before he was damaged lol. Healing him and putting him in a previous location.

Serika Zero3 votes

if you remove the damage, you will further move ekko on the path of build tanky for utility and more efficient heal. look, if you want someone to be played as a damage dealer, that someone must be able to deal dmg

macromite2 votes

i mean, he was originally meant to play as a bruiser, not an assassin, the way to go is to probably lower his damages all over and let him be the tank, but hit his base as well so he doesn't have the insane damage for building tanky.

Serika Zero3 votes

if i recall correctly, they always wanted ekko to be an assassin. One that needs to play smart to succeed, not spam QWER to win

macromite2 votes

issue with that is that he has a kit that isn't balanced for being an assassin. with shields, cc, dashes and heals, his kit as an assassin will need to be nearly incapable of working, which will always push him towards building tank or bruiser.

if he's balanced towards being a bruiser or a tank, he actually has a chance of working without much kit shifting, its just a matter of lowering his damage output.

CoffeeDave1 votes

At the moment, I'm having good luck against Ekko with Taric . Every game there's an Ekko, my point and click stun is enough to stop him and my team can just gang up on him. Makes me sad he's losing the Point and Click stun. (I play Taric support BTW)

Kairya4 votes

It's just very frustrating having to lane against him, when no support is around yet. He has a really good kit with mobility, shielding, stun and slow plus one " Oh I made a big mistake nvm" Ult. So he is tough to play against already and also hard to gank. And then he gets tanky, still does good damage and you as an avarage top-laner can't even hide under your turret due to above mentioned R.

Yes there are champions who can deal with him, but most of them are not at home on toplane. So even if you don't feed him, the laning experience is just un-fun and thats not how anyone wants to spend their free time.
