My Eventual Lol Burnout (The reason why)

I've played League of Legends for a very long time, and have had many disagreements with the direction the game has gone. But minor balance changes were never enough to make me almost completely stop. What really did it for was when they effectively abolished the idea of long matches and made snowballing effectively a prerequisite to winning.

These days I have a lot less freetime to game with jobs, life, etc. so when I want to waste time, I like to make sure my wasted time is well-spent on something I enjoy and the invested results have some sort of positive output. The shift towards snowbally matches effectively leads to you wasting time if you lose and renders all the effort you put forth pointless because of one or two other people effectively ruining it for everyone else.

The strength of long matches was the fact that by the time you hit a late game of 40- 50 minutes everyone has had the opportunity to have a build, and some, and therefore EVERYONE had the ability to be the linchpin of victory or defeat. It is time well-spent because the sheer scale and epicness of the teamfights has you on the edge of your seat and making every second count. It is wasted time well-spent. I really do miss long matches.

Since Riot has effectively killed the long game, my interest in the game has plummeted. I'll log on for a bot match or maybe ARAM, but I can't be bothered to play summoner's rift anymore because the game no longer awards effort for all, it punishes you if you're team feeds more than ever. To put it simply: By making the game extremely snowbally, Riot has ruined the epicness that League used to have.

What do you guys think? Has the game's quality gone down with the focus being put on slow snowbally games?

This would have been entirely true last year and at the beginning of this year, but recently pretty much every game goes to the 4-5 item mark at least, in my experience.

Then I cheer you on, for it seldom ever happens to me. Also my definition of the TRUE late game is 40 minutes, and that is what is missing these days.

I don't think the snowbally meta is as terrible as people make it out to be, especially in lower elos. Most of my games (when i played SR) still went into late game consistently.

At this point the matches are either 20 minutes long if that or 50-60 minutes that should have been over in 30 but people are stretching the game out due to level-up bots in PVP and the fact some people just delight in punishing those who can't fight back so we all have to stick around and watch it as uncomfortably as possible.

With that said, about balance - imagine if the iconic games we grew up with like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter had this balance team handling things? Can you imagine how unplayable they would have been? Sometimes, leaving something the hell alone is better than screwing it up so you have to spend six patches nerfing, buffing, rinse repeat and still end up worse than when you started.
