Proof there is literally no pleasing this community. Can't even give them free IP without complaints. Play a few more games. I've gotten rewards anywhere from 3-220 IP boosts for playing the game exactly as I would have anyway. If you were expecting thousands upon thousands of free IP then you obviously didn't read the details. You aren't entitled to any free IP so be thankful for what you get

Yup. Most of the people that are playing with groups didn't read the announcement properly. It says many things including that the multiplies are a chance at earning a higher amount of IP and there's a chance that the group will earn nothing. Yet, they keep complaining when they don't realize this.

Just pointing out that IP is actually free.

Sorry; entitled to any free bonus IP

just pointing out that time has a nonzero value

Just pointing out that you would probably have been playing the game anyway and therefore the time was a sunk cost.

you'd be surprised how many people log in once a day and play exactly one game for first win of the day even though they don't really feel like playing

Baron of Bread1 votes

Yeah, probably.

Just pointing out that OP isn't complaining.

Seems pretty sarcastic to me.

Just pointing out that I read the title wrong as "8x party reward OMFG!" and am feeling stupid.

Lol. No worries :p

  1. It's a test. They'll retune the numbers if they think they need to.

  2. At least it's something. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

DUDE SHHH, Lyte will read this and increase the ip cost for champions by 30% for destabilizing the economy!

Saianna1 votes

what economy?

SomethingUnknown2 votes

{quoted}

what economy?

Lyte said in a reddit thread that if people get a lot of ip then it would destabilize the ip economy or some shit like that. I don't really understand it since players don't trade between each other , it's not like Elder Scrolls Online or any other RPG. I guess they don't want to loose money from the people that buy champs with RP :/

Exactly. Without this there's no economy. Thus my question.

It's a weak excuse to not give out all of the heroes for free in their video game that they want the world to take seriously as games people can play with no more time or money spent than finding a ball.

Saianna1 votes

Sorry. You've lost me with that post of yours. So lemme make it straight:

"I do not, nor ever did say that all of the champions should be for free."

Got that?

What i meant is: LoL has no player-to-player economy. Which means there are no any kind of trades between players. So increasing IP which is given to 1 account does not unbalance something that is nonexistent in the first place.

I could agree if there was player-player trades. Then yes. OR if IP could be exchanged into RP in 1:1, but you can't.

So.. Yeah.. Also i remember how Riot was saying "yeah yeah we'll NEVER increase prices of a champion beyond 6300 ip." Or things like "Yeah price of a champion depends ONLY on his difficulty to master". In meantime of breaking their words they also decreased IP gains from matches. In other words, this "party rewards" system is minor buff to what we used to have.

OMFG THERE IS A MAXIMUM JACKPOT. THIS IS NOT THE MOST YOU CAN GET

Knight SoIaire 1 votes

yyeah but getting like 10 bonus ip per game ? you can get all the values beetwen 0 and the jackpot, so why do we get values close to 0 when this can even get to 1600 ip?

thats how randomness should work

MeesterMoo1 votes

Because it's not random. There is a small chance that you get a ridiculous amount of IP. And if it WAS random then Riots prices would make sense. It's an encouragement to play with people, not a boost to your IP for no reason. If you do get the jackpot, then good for you. It's a small incentive and I'm tired of people complaining they only got 8 IP when they clearly misunderstand the reason it's hard to get jackpots. It's better than nothing.

captainkaiger1 votes

But yet, when I'm playing with 4 friends and we get a 60 minute game, that 2 ip we get looks pathetic. The system should give you a bonus percentage based upon how many people you are playing with, then add in the random chance at the jackpot.

Meanwhile, I play with a single friend in a 20 minute game, and get 94 ip. I understand it's random, but sometimes random just isn't the right answer for the whole situation.

I'm not complaining about getting free bonus IP, I just want a little more equity between how much IP I get, and how much time is invested into the game.

MeesterMoo1 votes

People could easily exploit it if the IP was based on those factors.

captainkaiger1 votes

Exploit what? The system I'm proposing isn't multiplicative, it's additive. On top of that, it'd be a small percentage, around 10-20% more for what you would normally get. The random chance is still the random chance, I don't know anybody who's gotten the jackpot, or gotten more than 100 extra IP.

BLU Medic4 votes

I got 2 bonus party IP after a game. I was thrilled.

flibitydoo4 votes

I don't think the party rewards are there to create an IP farming outlet.

I think it's there to introduce and encourage playing with friends; which from my experience, playing with friends is very fun! While I was queued with other people (that I found in the LFG chat), I found that I wasn't even paying attention to the IP I was gaining.

Knight SoIaire 1 votes

and nobody complains about it not being good for farming people complain because a random amount beetwen 0 and the jackpot rarely moves above 20 ip

Pinker 102 votes

And slot machines rarely do anything but lose you money.... That's how random chance works.

Knight SoIaire 1 votes

are you implying that riot made this mechanic to work just like slot machine the are actualy set to allow one win when they have enough money in, and the win is set to still make the machine profitable, its just for show that its possible to win, yet 99% of the players lose

basicaly meaning that barely anyone will get any noticeable reward from party rewards ?

Talamare2 votes

CALM DOWN! Riot determined this increase is too great and plan to likely remove it

Kitten of Evil2 votes

Lucky. I got 4 bonus IP last time I played with a party.

Slushi Simcambi2 votes

I've played quite a few games with friends and I've gotten no jackpot so far...

Just these little crummy boosts.

Pinker 102 votes

Take my 40k. I'm sick of looking at it.

Marinaras Trench2 votes

You sir, are an asshole.

Earthlord Jazz1 votes

Was really excited seeing the X16 boost with a party of 5...instead, I'vegotten an average of around 10 bonus ip per game...

What's the point of this again? I already play with a group since this game is fun with friends, and I thought this was Riot reaching out to players that have spent years grinding games for runes and champs...instead there's this gimmick that offers those hard working players almost nothing

Thryale1 votes

I think this is a bug with how ip is determined. I played a match and got 16 ip for the game around 60-80 ip for the loss, and 16 ip for the party.

I think what's happening is it's not going off the total ip you got and instead is going off of the ip for the game itself. This is clearly not the intended effect (as far as I'm aware) and we should continue to bring it to riot's attention.

Abyssphere1 votes

The whole thing kinda feels pointless to me. Like, not complaining obviously. 8 IP is better than 0. But it does feel amusingly tiny.
