What is the general point of Champion Mastery?

I could understand if it was generally rather difficult to obtain but the reality is that all you really have to do is play a champion a lot and you level up.

It seems champion mastery is more an indicator of "time played" than "champion skill" and if that is the reality than I question why they bothered to name it Mastery.

Are people generally happy about that? Personally I hit a level and I'm like "oh, that thing"

I think a system that rewards players for playing well regularly would be better than just rewarding people for laying their favorite champs over and over.

Uh? it's a combination of times played, and performance. Why not? Just a nice little feature, I don't care too much

It's just something extra to have fun with.. Why does everyone have to complain about everything.. Were lucky riot is always working to improve the game and give us fun things to do and little things here and there. Why complain?

It is mainly time played on a champion but also somewhat performance. I mean if you lose games, you literally get little champions XP.

Anyhow, I would take a person with a level 5 champion than someone who isn't even level 4 with their champion.
