Give Heal the Smite Treatment?

If you guys remember, people were taking jungle items in lane and eventually Rito made it so that you had to have smite to buy the jungle item.

What if to get a support item, you had to get heal. Then Rito could buff support items without worrying about other Roles grabbing them for thier utility.

Just a thought. Flame away :-)

Eh. Supports almost always take flash, then usually exhaust/ignite depending on the situation.

Yeah, support isn't a class that has an exclusive summoner spell that goes with it. I've had success rolling Exhaust in other lanes just as another means of CC on low CC champs, and I've also had success running Exhaust and Ignite as support. I also don't typically see the support items making their way into the lanes beyond a certain point. The stats on the Frost Queen's Claim isn't comparable to other AP items, and the Relic Shield line is almost exclusively bottom since there aren't any other 2 man lanes. The other, Ancient Coin, just adds a boat load of regenerative stats and again, isn't that useful to anyone who's not a support.

Very good idea, but I think I would rather Exhaust....but then again what about Aggro Ignite supports?

  1. that would screw over supports cause you force them to take heal. When Supports normally take either ignite or Exhaust. (thought the ignite option is more common in the pro scene.) Over all, Supports are arn't defined by a summoner spell, unlike Junglers with smite.

  2. Assuming your using this as a means to limit the accesability of support items. This only stands to completely screw over Supports itemization, unless you also give the itemization to have the Summoner Augmentation abilitiy that Jungle items have. Yet you wouldn't be able to do that without completely reworking the Support items. (And that won't likely happen until the next preseason.)

  3. It's just not going to work. if your intent is to restrict Support item access. Laners were able to live with having smite, just to get certain Jungle items. Like we saw with Cinderhulk and Ruin glaive Ez. And Heal would have an even lower barrier of entry. You wouldn't be able to stop mid laners from taking FQC just by making the take Heal just to do it.

Only support I take heal on is soraka, usually that's an ADC thing, though switching it out for exhaust can work, more often than not though I run ignite on support, heal on mid laners isn't all that uncommon though either.

Supports take heal?

Downshift1/30/2016, 9:04:40 PM1 votes

I nomally tke exhaust as well but when i was trying to pick a summoner that more defense than offensive ability between heal and exhaust...heal won out. normal bot lanes run heal/exhaust with the adc taking heal but if they were to swap, it would not change much bot lane.

Plus you dont see heal TOO often other than bot lane for the most part.

You take heal on supports?

FenrirStriker1/30/2016, 9:10:46 PM1 votes

i'd agree, but not just limit support item to heal, but to exhaust aswell., to many times i see ignite on a support, showing the state of the current meta being damage instead of utility even more.

I would rather it on Exhaust instead of heal, since I usually take that and not heal. But other then that, it would be great. The only problem is some people would complain, because they take ignite on the support.
