What Riot should have done to Leblanc to fix the problems without destroying her champ identity
First of all, this isn't a post whining that new Leblanc can't win or be successful. That's obviously not true. I had 19 kills on my first ranked attempt with her, and her passive damage is enough to make success possible.
My issue as a Leblanc main is that Riot completely destroyed her identify and frankly, everything that made her fun as a champ. And what's worse, the solution for old Leblanc's problems was a very simple fix that didn't require her being turned into a shit mixtape of mage gimmicks.
There were two main problems with playing against old Leblanc, particularly if your team didn't have any auto-click cc.
- Instant snapback on W made counterplay difficult
- The W-Q-R and W-Q-R-E combo did a toxic amount of damage from range with ZERO counterplay
What made old Leblanc counterable was that she had to get up close and pesonal to do the most damage. What made her toxic was that she was able to do way too much damage in certain situations without getting close and personal, thanks to her Q-R and related ranged combos.
Here's how Riot could and should have fixed that.
- Implement the slight W snapback delay from the current rework
- Decrease Q and mimic'd Q damage and transfer it to W/mimic-W
This would have cemented Leblanc's identity as a mobile, high risk/high reward champ. She would have been required to get within melee range in order to deliver major damage AND that slight snapback delay would mean she had to time it around auto-stun CDs versus simply being too quick for most players to react.
And most importantly, it wouldn't have completely destroyed what made Leblanc one of the most unique, interesting, and enjoyable champs to play in League of Legends.
