Make Sterak's Gage and Maw of Malmortius melee only

Kind of tired of Graves running around simultaneously being tankier than Rammus, an AD version of Leblanc while having the sustained damage of an ADC.

Sterak's Gage needs the shield to scale only off bonus health and that will fix the problems with it currently. That will make it less ideal for champs who are not building a fair amount of health and make it not ideal to get as a first or second item if you want to survive burst. Yes this will kill the item for champions who are building for crit.

Maw is a little strong but it is intended to counter magic burst and CC. It does not need to be melee only but it does need to be more situational.

Making every bruiser item in the game melee only is a broad solution to a specific problem.

There are ranged bruisers in the game. Gnar, for instance, already feels awkward to build. Urgot also likes some of these items.

If graves is too strong right now, nerf his numbers. I don't think steraks and maw are fundamentally overpowered on all ranged champions. They are a problem on graves because he is innately tanky and has massive base damage. Same (maybe) with kindred, who also has massive base damage, and therefore can afford to build tanky.

Target the problem champions. Don't make sweeping changes that screw over champs who are not a problem, and who rely on these items.

but Gnar... ;n;

He is melee and range...

He is the only one who can build item 3074 and item 3085 at the same time.. Even tho the passives may not proc in each form.. he still gets the base stats for the items..

Slythion1 votes

Yes, but you don't build either of those because they don't synergize with his kit. Steraks and Maw are actually built on him, and to make it so they are only useful for half his kit would hurt him hard

Mimy1 votes

they used to... before they changed them.. like when gnar first appeared...

25/2 As gnar with..

item 3078 item 3143 item 3006 item 3085 item 3074 item 3065

DONT TRY THIS BUILD..

It doesn't work as well as it used to...

Slythion1 votes

I'm just saying, Gnar is already only semi-viable and especially unreliable. To change 2 of his commonly built items to only synergize with half his kit would nerf him into oblivious faster than you can say chimichangas

I know Im not saying to make item 3053 and item 3156 melee online..

I was just sa..

ehh who cares...

It's sad how underpowered gnar is.. :(

Gnar could've used much more love than just bonus ad from rito recently :/

These items are meant for ranged adcs, making them melee only make zero sense

Steraks is 100 percent for adcs

No, it isn't. It was designed to be a Juggernaut item. That's what it is, and that is what it will always be. However, adc players realized that they could build it, for it and Maw are the only two defensive items in the game that give offensive stats. They are avoiding being bursted to death by building items that were never meant for them.

item 3139 also gives def/off.

I think you can put it better that Maw and Sterak's are the only two anti-burst items with offensive stats.

I honestly think that they should return Maw to its S5 version, with the missing HP-scaling AD steroid. And for Sterak's, they could simply make it even more expensive OR make part of the benefits of the passive melee-only (like the increased size and further base AD increase). Or increase the shield proc threshould to something like 2300@18 (so you absolutely NEED bonus HP to enable the shield at all).

You genie, why would it be an ADC item if it has ratios that increase with more maxHP

... Seriously?

No. They're not.

Maw of Malmortius was never built on ADCs before the current season. It's always been favored by Fighters and Assassins who use the shield to survive magic damage in melee range.

Sterak's Gage was made specifically for Juggernauts who found themselves dying too quickly to ambient AoE damage during teamfights. Sterak's Fury is meant to reinforce Juggernauts as a target to be focused, and ignoring them and relying on cleave damage to kill them makes them more dangerous.

Leaving Maw for melees still allows for them to complete invalidate AP burst. It needs more nerfs then just to ADC's.

Graves is an ADC...................................

Dunkrius2g1 votes

Nope, hes a tank, bruiser, assassin, tank, adc.

theonlyaustin1 votes

He is not a tank. He gets tank stats for a very short amount of time with his E. He is a Marksman/Adc

New ADC build: item 3031 item 3087 item 3156 item 3139 item 3742 item 3053

deals enough damage, be tankier than anyone, and no apc can do shit to him. Add that with graves, and you will wreck.

But for graves, you will need diff items like item 3812 and item 3046

Mizaya1 votes

Graves range really doesn't mean much since he gets into close range to do more damage.

Steraks should be melee only but maw of malmortius is fine that just is a powerful item which needs a nerf5
