Um. Once upon a time Bloodthirster was THE rush ADC item. It gave 70 AD and you last hit minions to grant it an additional 30 AD. AD casters didn't have all these fancy armor pen choices or black cleaver and actually bought multiple BTs (I think)

AP Carries had multiple 120 ap options. Deathcap had 155 ap for 3400g with a 30% total boost

Randiuns Omen had 500 hp and 75 armor.

League of nerfs wow

Oh and supports had zero gold and had to buy 30 green wards 75g each every game. And maybe they saved up for a item 3105

Yea but you actually had to stack it to get 70 ad... and if you got shut down that was too damn bad. It isn't like the you can just buy it now options. You are also right on items like randuins. They just feel lack luster now because there isn't really any defense attached to them.

No. You got 70 AD immediately and up to 100 overall.

V1.0.0.152 Combine cost reduced to Gold 650 from Gold 900. Base attack damage increased to 70 from 60. Passive maximum stacks reduced to 30 from 40. Maximum attack damage from stacks is now 30, down from 40. Maximum life steal from stacks is now 6%, down from 8%.

gave less than that, found that in the archives from S1. Gave 60 and stacked +40...

What are you talking about?

Firstly, you do realize that this is a pre-season 3 patch, it's literally impossible to find it in the season 1 archives.

Secondly, it used to give 60 AD on buy and stack up another 40 AD for a total of 100 AD. After that patch it gave 70 AD on stack up another 30 AD up to a total of 100 AD.

You said this:

Yea but you actually had to stack it to get 70 ad...

Which is simply wrong. You were clearly talking about the 70+30 version and somehow confused it with 40+30=70.

No right now everything gives low AD. There's just more options. Good ole days of 100 AD BT, 80 damage I.E. BC had a nice, fat 50 AD. Atmas hit 60 commonly. Now things are pretty low.

item 3074 is fine since it's restricted to Melee characters.

item 3508 item 3812 item 3031 item 3072 are the problem ones, and really it's crit that is the problem.

The marksman bottom came about because they were the best characters for taking towers and dragons safely, but now they are also 500+ range assassins as well thanks to item 3031 item 3087 item 3147

Again the raw AD isn't the problem -- AD + AS is the entire point of marksmen. It's the fact that they can shred other cast members while not even giving up objective taking power.

It still shows how much damage creep the game has since S1. I feel like the game is wayyyyy less balanced now than it has been in the past. Mostly because of how high damage is.

all ive learnt from trying to understand why assassins and marksman's are powerful, is that both cannot live healthily together as adc's will always abuse assassin items, and will always find a way to outscale everyone
