Hey everyone, I just want to get this out there and say that I am no expert on League of Legends balance. But I do love Soraka a whole lot and every time I think about her, her signature heal that comes to mind is missing something as it's hard to forget after the impact it left on many summoners... Her signature ability to give mana... Oh, and not needing her point-and-click silence.

So my suggestion, if possible: When Soraka uses her [W] on an ally it would heal them -- of course -- but also increasing mana regen /or/ resource regen by small amount for a short duration. This is the only idea that worked in my mind (besides the one where Soraka's heal would over heal and give a 'bless shield', like Blood Thirster in a way) that doesn't seem too broken in lane, also making sure that giving health comes with a little bonus, as Soraka is already on life support from just healing a few times in the early game anyways.

Here is my icon I made in my spare time to show if this did happen:

Feedback would be nice, I was really nervous to share my idea. . . Amumu

The problem with giving back mana is that it covers a weakness that mana hungry champions face. These champions are supposed to manage how many spells they use in order to not run out, and giving them a way to get it back this easily would give them one less weakness. (This is also why I don't like Essence Reaver)

The shield idea could work, but since the ability already had a super low cooldown, it would be way too easy to just shield an ally, then turn to another and start healing them instead. Being able to shield up to four allies while still being able to heal them would quickly turn into a balance issue.

Soraka also has a set of changes on the PBE, if you want to check them out.
