Minion aggro with Swain

I just had a match where an enemy Swain literally walked through the middle of his wave, E'd me and then kept auto attacking without drawing minion aggro. Did I misplay that horribly or Swain autos don't aggro minions while I'm under his E?

I honestly feel that all I knew about creep aggro fell out of the window there.

Really interesting... I was a Swain main last season and never had this experience, minion aggro is something Swain wants at 6, as that allows sustain through ult... very bizarre interaction.

You have to hit swain for the minions to react.
