Lethality Buffs Are Way Too High

I have made several posts showing the math regarding Lethality.

The changes done to Lethality currently on the PBE was to make it scale better.

I still run full Lethality runes and masteries. I sacrifice a weaker early game for a stronger mid to late game.

Pre-Lethality, with armor penetration marks and quints + masteries, you would get 22.3 armor penetration at level 1. At level 18, it would be 27.5 armor penetration.

Currently, with 33.5 Lethality from the same set up, you get 43.3% of that at level 1, or 14.51 armor penetration. At level 18, it would be 33.5 armor penetration.

With the changes on PBE, with 33.5 Lethality from the same set up, you get 62.2% of that at level 1, or 20.84 armor penetration. At level 18, it would be 33.5 armor penetration.

So if these changes go through, what was the point of introducing Lethality? We are going to go back to full penetration items from everyone, except now they all have more armor penetration. Duskblade is already core on my Garen, and with the changes to that item, I will be doing 75 + 48.5 x 2 = 172 True Damage on him from only one lethality item. You can get up to 83.5 Lethality, so you can do 242 True Damage now.

With these changes, I will abuse Lethality and Duskblade even more now, as can be seen here:

They are trying to make these trash assassin's relevant

With these changes, they are pushing the scaling for level 1 to what is level 7-8 on live. That is a pretty big buff for early game.

they are gonna end up making bruisers more relevant because those broken champions are gonna be the ones building the lethality items now

You showed a clip at around 43 minutes into game..

How is that that late relevant for early game lethality calculations? You could always get 83 lethality before these changes.
Maybe the want lethality to have actual use for things other than "fun builds in normals". Lethality early game is shit imo and if you run full lethality runes+masteries, you're indirectly asking your team to hold the gates till you makes enough gold to buy them expensive items and then maybe 1 shot a squishy 3-4 times at 35 minute for the lulz

The oneshot was less Lethality and more you having a shitton of AD and critting the armor/health-less Twitch.

Riot doesn't realize that Armor pen isn't seeing success because games end too quickly. And because there's too much armor in the game. LW item line is all that keeps it in check; both factors should be reduced.

Wow that one shot

And an actual one-shot too, none of that "one-shot" with a full ability rotation nonsense people usually throw around.

"1 combo" and "1 rotation" just doesn't have the same ring to it. But your observation is still 100% valid.

Riot also changed the target users of lethality who were the ad assassins so that they didnt have the ridiculous no counterplay burst they used to. Well at least they tried to anyway no clue what happened with rengar. Armor pen gets to be stronger because they dont 100-0 you as unfairly as before. Sure in other classes it can get silly but even then unless you stack a lot of lethality it won't be that effective. The solution would be to have riot limit lethality to the assassin class if it gets too crazy in other hands but this is riot so I won't hold my breath. Even with your video lethality wasn't the big winner it was IE and the fact that you went 3 damage items on garen and got fed as hell.

It was late game, so being fed did not matter. I had 68.5 armor penetration at that point, so Twitch only had 14.5 armor. I am just arguing that 62.2% at level 1 is too high.

Lethality literally does nothing right now. I sometimes even forget that Duskblade has that basic attack passive.

It's not that it does nothing but it takes way too long to do what it is supposed to. If you stack a full lethality page and buy every lethality item it takes until level 15 to get to the true damage you want against some squishies depending on their natural scaling armor. By that point you probably know who is going to win assuming your game even last that long. With the average game time being 20-30 minutes seeing late game lethality numbers is rare and then you have to win early game with less pen. If you won with less then it's easy to assume you will win harder later but the issue is you already got fed. You could probably kill them with standard ad items at that point.

I thought deleting out of position adc's with a bruiser top was a good thing

There's a Diamond 1 player's Wukong build loaded on Lethality runes and masteries that is insane once the monkey gets out of the laning phase. See http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/build/s7-my-full-lethality-armor-penetration-wukong-build-489742 . I've tried it - as long as you get out of toplane with just one or two deaths, and start getting your ad items, you really do snowball.

wukong doesnt have great base stats when it comes to defense. with that build hes basically a squishy assassin.

i dont see the issue tbh.

he doesnt even violate riots new rule of counterplay for assassins by forcing them to take a couple of seconds to kill their target, considering his ult is a channeld ability.

there is not much of a difference between full lethality wukong and ad assassins like talon.

the problem isn't lethality on Garen, is that his q's aa portion can crit and has an huge scaling on it

Critmaster Garen1 votes

the lethality buffs just increase the base value. which means the amount of armor pen you get out of it early game. it starts at 40% of your lethality at lvl 1, and scales up to 100% against lvl 18 targets. the changes on the pbe just make it start at 60%.

both of you were already lvl 18, means the result would be exactly the same.

also, thats really statisfying to watch, lol.
