Change Garen's W stacking on ARAM

With the removal of from the Howling Abyss, it becomes extremely difficult to stack the passive on Garen's W. You already need to kill 60 units to accomplish this task. With everyone farming the minions, you were forced to buy relic shield in an attempt to max out the stacks by the 20 minute mark.

Here is how to fix this: Garen's W passively gains 1 armor and magic resistance every minute. This maxes out at 30 total armor/mr. If Garen sits back and gets no kills or CS, it will take 30 minutes. If Garen is tearing it up and his team lets him farm the minions, then he will max out sooner and this change hardly benefits him. Most likely though, Garen will get 14 CS and 6 kills by the 20 minute mark, which means that he will have (14+6) x 0.5 + 20 = 10 + 20 = 30 armor/mr.

The goal of this change is to help Garen get his W maxed by the 20 minute mark.

This is a well thought out post on how to better balance Garen, you have provided an unintended hurdle for Garen that came as a result of item nerfs...if Riot follows their usual protocol you should see a response to address this in exactly..........never :/

I'm torn.

On one hand, what you said makes some sense. Garen shouldnt be handicapped to never be able to max his stacks. But as someone with over 4250 ARAM games played, I find Garen to be pretty strong - and I never started relic on him. He is one of the tankiest champions on ARAM due to his regen and his W while able to dish out massive AoE on such a small map. I really dont think he needs buffs.

Jaurim's Fist is also going to be a pain to stack without Relic Shield. Maybe they need to make ARAM versions of gold income items.

What about Kindred? Maybe a passive mark every 5-6 minutes as well in Aram? Everyone knows Kindred is also highly hindered in this mode as well.

Garens W needs a change, not Howling Abyss....sorta.

He'll kill you with his ult if you stay in lane at low hp, just back to base and you'll be fresh when you come back to lane.

no i am completely against this, you have access to so much sustain via passive this would make him to diffacult to play against all over again, theres also far more minions to stack it on.

I'd just prefer they changed W so that ranks 2 through 5 given Garen enough stacks to gain +5 to each resistance type (and possibly remove double stacks from ARAM/other off modes). W should be the "I want bulk and I want it now" rank up and is more interesting and adaptable than just a timed bonus.

I honestly never understood the stacking mechanic on this. The bonus is capped at a relatively easy to obtain max for a standard SR game. They should make it more borderline and less swingy - since Garen's base armor kind of suffers for it.
