Why are new champions not disabled in ranked for a week?

Seriously?!? Why are new champions not disabled in ranked for a week? New champions with new mechanics are nearly an automatic loss if your team picks them. It was true with Yasuo, Azir, Gnar, and now Bard. It is especially bad with new supports because players who aren't even used to supporting decide to use the champion. I have now played two ranked games in a row where a player on my team locked in Bard support and then fed.

It is especially bad with new supports

nope, because support is the least important role

is learning a new champion THAT hard? jeez. just read what his abilities are and THINK about what you will do in lane. im not talking about think mid game. im talking about think and visualize what you will do WHILE LOADING.

if you come up with a plan for what to do in certain situations before the game even starts, you're so much more likely not to fuck up and lose.

i was good with azir on launch because i watched a shit ton of videos, and studied him very hard. the same went for yasuo, velkoz, and gnar. you don't even need to play a champion to be good at it. you just need to know how to PLAY.

ok, now ask yourself, when do you have a higher chance to win 4 v 5, when your support dc at 1st or when any other role dc at 1st k, i actually won 4v5 as support nidaree (very tanky nidalee) and as jungle soraka but... well, you see

Because non of the ranked only people would pay RP for a new champion on release. I mean come on, not dying while trying to 1v3 as the support for a #bigplay? I mean why play safe when you can attempt to show off o.0 That just isn't fun.........

Yes, that was sarcasm.

Yes, its sad I have to clarify that.

Not only that, even if I knew how to play Bard I wouldn't pick him in ranked yet, since you just know the adc is gonna feed their brains out the first couple games they play with a Bard. I still see them die while the support is warding and afk because the support ganked mid, theres no way the average soloqer is ready for something like "Ok there are a lot of chimes around mid let's shove so I can go grab them quick"

Because if idiots want to play a new champion in ranked, let them? I know Riot prevented free champions from being used in Ranked, but they can't prevent idiots from using champions they bought (sometimes with RP) in ranked just because you dislike having them on your team.

Thats why I avoid ranked like the plague when a new champion drops, at least for a few days.

I stick to normals where a loss doesn't mean much of anything.

I do agree that new champs should be banned from ranked for a week though (they do it for the LCS, so why not ranked play?)

Honestly if Riot was more committed to public testing they should release a new champion to Normal games for an entire month before they will let them go live on Ranked.

Azir was just a train-wreck of bugs and glitches and then he became over powered due to them being fixed XD.

PBT is great and all but it has been proven time and time over that unless a champion gets tested on a world scale they do not find as many glitches as fast.

I agree. Obviously playing a new champ, especially for the first 10 or so games, is bad for your team and lowers your win chance. Picking a champ that you don't know how to play is intentionally assisting the enemy team. Once champion mastery is live, that should be used to restrict which champs you can play in ranked. If you haven't played 10+ games and/or have a certain mastery level then you can't use the champ in ranked.
