Yasuo got really strong with the pre-season patch

Project omen··41 votes·1,904 views

As a samurai main, my thought is as follows: With the new buff on statik shiv, he can reach 100% crit chance before the clock hits 15:00. On top of that, we have the new mastery that gives lifesteal and attack speed for every critical strike. Combine that mastery with a bloodthirster and he will have 35% lifesteal. Although I, as a Yasuo main, should be glad with this development ,the fact that, despite all these stats, he still has 2 item slots left (let these slots be for even more offense or for resistances), feels really unfair. Before the patch, he was fine, but now it just feels like the wind-warrior has too much power at his hands Yasuo

Who could have seen this coming?

Oh. Everyone did.

Project omen3 votes

Apparently Riot didn't. Unless they intended to make Yasuo this strong.

The warnings and concerns sent directly to Riot and spammed on live and pbe boards were undoubtedly seen. As to why they haven't even mentioned him as we were panicking is pretty telling that they don't care about his absurd strength.

Project omen2 votes

Be that as it may, but I'm expecting huge nerfs in the future nevertheless. Not for Yasuo, but for the reworked items.

The crit healing mastery is the problem. I mean, I hate Yasuo's kit with a burning passion (mage main here), but he was not too strong until this.

Riot.

Agreed. I'm also worried about tryndamere, for the same reasons.

Dunkrius2g1 votes

Tryndamere will never need to use his Q in lane.

OH GOD YOU'RE RIGHT....

Saddest thing is, Riot's going to end up nerfing either the mastery or the items, instead of addressing the abuse case of Yasuo's passive.

Project omen1 votes

Yasuo's passive is not the problem. It synergizes with items, which are the issue here. If you are going to nerf Yasuo, then nerf all the assassins, one by one.

EndlessSorcerer3 votes

The Crit Damage Reduction mastery has also been removed.

I loved that one; it would reduce the damage dealt by Yasuo and Tryndamere by 10% outright.

Word, that's a baller item combination. I get both on any melee carry even if I wind up getting no other damage items.

and before item 3026

Project omen1 votes

Now that this item got buffed, an idea for his build would be: item 3087 item 3031 item 3111 item 3072 item 3022 item 3026 He will have damage, 100% crit, lifesteal (from both bt and the mastery), health and stickiness, decent resistances.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

You should see 80% crit Vayne and bruiser jungle Xin Zhao. Riot's dropped the ball.

how about nerf all the ad champions as a whole this new patch nerfed the ap users to the ground. i just played a ahri game when i went 8/0/6 while the mid lane varus was 1/0/0 and thru the whole game he always did more damage then me at every point of the game where his team ended up winning

Project omen1 votes

I feel you. Mages are on a big disadvantage atm.

Kaipop2 votes

As a Mage main myself, AP champs are fine, stop exaggerating. If you got outdamaged that hard with that much gold it's obviously your fault.

item 3087 item 1018 = 50% crit just saying.... 100% crit on yasuo, with warlords bloodlust he gains infinite sustain, because come on people, what else would he choose....

CONGRATS riot, you meant to buff marksman, but brought yasuo back from building one whole item....and a mastery that is too good to not be taken by anyone that can build moderate crit.

100% fine is a great WORD....XD

Apparently the yasuo mains can't even read that Warlord's Bloodlust has a cooldown.

Does the cooldown even matter? It's 2 seconds. That means you get healed every 2-3 auto attacks from the mastery itself. Now, if you have a bloodthirster, you will get healed for 35% of the damage dealt from every 3rd aa, and for 20% for every other aa. Note that I haven't even mentioned the elixir of wrath yet (50% lifesteal every 3rd aa). Also, the attack speed buff lasts for 4 seconds and refreshes afterwards, because all your basic attacks are critical strikes.

The mastery heals yasuo for 65-80, assuming you hit for 600 damage and it depends on the attack method (Qs give around 65, autos give around 80.)

I would take the furor mastery instead, as you can stack that up stupidly fast for an extra... 80 damage on autos and Qs late game?

Agreed. Just started playing a few Yasuo games and it's.. Ugh.. Unbelievable. I just buy tons of sustain items so that I could 1v5 if I manage to hit 2 Carries with ult. Slightly broken, lol. IMO they should delete his passive. Yasuo gameplay itself is fun, but the raw strength is overwhelming.

His passive is not the problem. In fact, it's what makes this champion so item-dependent. The issue is the reworked items and how they make this specific champion so powerful. This is why I started this discussion.

Gregor Gysi1 votes

So.. We've got new items which make one specific champion extremely powerful. And now you are saying that Riot should obviously nerf all these new items because of one specific champion?

Project omen1 votes

Of course. The champion isn't op from himself, like the juggernauts, for instance. He is very item-dependent. He wasn't this strong before the patch went live. It's the reworked items and masteries that made him this strong. And let's be real, here. He is not the only one that benefits from all that. If you 're gonna nerf Yasuo, you might as well nerf all the assassins as well, one by one.

Gregor Gysi1 votes

Yeah, because we are able determine a champions' strength in an isolated environment.. Yes, he wasn't this strong before the patch went live. But it went live. The items may get some nerfs - mostly minor nerfs tho. But seeing how extremely well Yasuo scales with the items and the masteries (in fact probably better than all the other champion) he is still going to need a change. Even after changing his passive his gameplay would remain really similiar to pre5.22.

Also why the heck would nerfing Yasuo result in nerfing the other assassins? Let's be real, here. Most of them don't even want to have Crit/AS and don't use that mastery that give Yasuo bonus sustain with just building crits.

Project omen1 votes

idk man, maybe you are right. Up until now, I was strongly against nerfing Yasuo. If you think about it, it's the new mastery and the buff on statik shiv that started all this. Why shouldn't riot revert statik shiv back to its old state and do something about that mastery instead of cripling Yasuo even more?

Gregor Gysi1 votes

Because the improvements the changes brought outweigh some changes to one single champion - changes that don't need to influence his gameplay too much. Decreasing his crit damage by 20% instead of 10% would probably be enough. Keep in mind that I am saying this as someone who hates playing ADC but loves playing Yasuo from time to time..

Project omen1 votes

I could accept the damage reduction to his crits. Infinity Edge would be more important for him.

EndlessSorcerer2 votes

They can nerf the new items to reduce Yasuo's power.

Then they can nerf Yasuo.
