STOP being that person.

Person A: Fill Person B: Silent Person A: Hey, Person B, it looks like we're picking together, what role do you want? Person B: Still no communication Person A: Can you please talk? Person B: Okay

Summoner 4 and 5 are choosing champions

5 4 3 2 Summoner 4 and 5 are choosing champions 1

Person A: Hits ADC Person B: Hits ADC

If someone gives you A LOT of time in advance to pick YOUR role, and is being generous to you, PLEASE say something. I'm tired of being in lobby, and having this happen.

Happens to me when I say fill as 3rd or 4th pick. I even ask what 5th wants and there's no response. And then once 5th pick rolls around guy asks what's left and then gets visibly upset about not getting the role he wanted.

Oops. Guess you should've been looking at chat.

If a person cares enough to check the forums... they probably care enough to communicate... so other than ranting, don't think you're audience is hearing this.

As much as I hate that and agree with you OP, some people use the champ select time to go do something IRL. So they don't get it till its too late

ivnkoxhcuc60 votes

Maybe it's just me, but I use the load screen to go do IRL things. (Some people have toasters, I swear, lol). Not champ select.

ShaftyMegee4 votes

I do the same, Idk why people leave during champ select, they are busting my balls. I just have a few friends who do that AND I've seen many other people in game say they left during. Doesn't excuse not communicating with the team though

NuSix33 votes

If there is a lot of talking in champ select I usually think about dodging, depending on what people are saying.

i.e. someone is making a lot of requests - ADC should go this, Support needs to be tanky, Jungle should use Xin...etc. That's a loss waiting to happen, that guy is always the first to start freaking out when something bad happens too. Don't want to be a part of it.

That isn't even enough time for me to go to the bathroom usually.

People need to realize that LoL should not be a higher priority over real life. I swear someone goes to do something that is actually important and all the sudden people act like you killed their dog.

Bandle City Bot19 votes

Well while that is a valid thing to bring up, the whole "it is just a game" argument, it's still a dick move. However, like any other cooperative activity that is time sensitive, when people are required to do something in a planning phase and fail to act it leads to a negative experience. In general your statement might hold some merit. If we are to believe the OP though, the Person B was there and capable of communicating but made the choice to pull a Rammus "okay" when asked a pointed question, which lead to this entire fiasco. This is not explicitly, or even implicitly, an IRL vs Game time management issue but a communication issue.

Then don't play the frickin game if you can't focus on it. What are you, 5 years old? Can't use the bathroom before playing? C'mon

Oh please, that is just one example.

If there is a real life emergency, or even something of moderate real life importance, that always takes precedence, regardless of how much you might find it annoying.

SoMNia4 votes

Outside of an actual emergency that unexpectedly demands your attention, making a commitment to participate in any group activity when you haven't bothered to set aside time to actually participate, or thinking that half-assed participation while you make lunch is good enough, is incredibly rude. Expecting other players to exercise basic time management skills in order to actually be present for the game they signed up for is not unreasonable. If there's something of "moderate real life importance" that requires your attention, plan for that. If you don't have time to play, don't play, until you can make time.

I believe that someone wouldn't pick a champ (and dodge because timer) if there was an emergency. I think the OP means ppl that are actually there but don't say a thing.

That's what I mean! :) Thanks! I was more hinting at that people aren't communicating

if its an emergency i dont expect you will return last second tho. if it really is an emergency you will just leave the pc there and it will eventually cancel the champselect.

So don't go in queue if you know something is going to happen

I know I have managed to do the following things after picking and waiting for people to load for a game:

  1. Take a massive diarrhea dump.
  2. Start a load of laundry.
  3. Make myself a sandwich. With cooked bacon in it.
  4. Take a shower.
  5. Shave.
  6. Pay my bills (not even kidding, I do it through my bank's website).

So yeah, some people should stop trying to run LoL on their kitchen appliances.

ivnkoxhcuc2 votes

I laughed so hard at the "massive diarrhea dump" because I have taken A LOT of those in load screens.. >.>

WarlockLaw2 votes

I'm actually impressed with that list o.0

And I use my toaster as an excuse to not get food and drinks prior to champ select

Akesgeroth1 votes

I shave once every three days on average and it takes me about ten minutes, which should tell you how long it takes for these people to load...

Exactly, just had a game where I was forced to play Janna support 1st time in ranked because the first pick that picked mid for me went afk in champ select.

Ouch.. How did that go? Lol

Maybe they should have "done something IRL" /before/ they queued up, instead of waiting till champ select.

Nothing good can come from going afk during champ select, then sitting down as last pick and just choosing a role. Just because you have the tools to be selfish and not pay attention, doesn't mean you should be selfish and not pay attention.

You ever tried waiting for draft pick? It took me 30 min to get into a match By that time, I was actually making ramen because I was getting hungry Saw the notification pop up and I was still cooking, and Im not going to...

A: Eat undercooked noodles B: Light my house on fire or C: throw away what could have been perfectly good Ramen

I mean, I was last pick so It didnt matter anyways but still...

You sure you aren't talking about teambuilder? Draft is like 2-5 minutes tops.

I once waited 25 minutes to start a game because of last minute dodges actually.

report for refusing to communicate.

BigPooStorm3 votes

As a Nasus main I hate it when I get first pick and ask if I can pick a champ for anyone and literally no one responds 90% of the time. Then I have to first pick Nasus and I get hard countered by a Vlad or Darius every single time.

Gavran2 votes

Gee maybe they don't want to be countered / have you fail to trade with them / not have the champion you later tell them you want either?

I never go into champ select saying "this is the champion I'm going to play." I can't pick to suit the team if I have to go first.

Spizzle90003 votes

No offense man, but you're preaching to the choir. Although I do understand your frustration, because a lack of communication with your team is almost a guaranteed loss.

Jarrito2322 votes

What about people who's chat is disconnected? This has happened to me a few times, and it is super annoying.

SoMNia2 votes

Ugh, yes, such a pain. I hate when people walk away from the game during champ select. The champ select time is for SELECTING A CHAMPION. Go figure. XD If you want time to do stuff away from the game, do it before you start a game, or at the loading screen, when you don't have a responsibility to the team to actively participate. If you're going to commit to a team game, be present for the team, please. AFKing is just as bad if not worse during champ select as during the game itself.

What's also annoying is when people lock in an ambiguous pick and don't call a position. Is that Lux going support or mid? massive shrug

And then there are the people who see someone else call mid and say "I got it", and it's like...when was this? If you come in saying "I got mid, y'all", and there's nobody else in the room yet, no, you didn't call mid. And then people compensate for this by copy-paste spamming their position in the chat six times, just to be absolutely sure everyone sees they called it before anyone else had a chance to type a word. If it's that important to you, please use team builder. That's what it's for. Bickering over who has dibs on what position is just obnoxious.

Bu Ice2 votes

I don't know if it has haooened to anyone else but rare occasions where the chat is messed up and I can't communicate or read what the team is saying. In these situations o click a champ indicating what role along with summoners. Then explain in game where the chat is working. And I apologize a ton if was confusing for everyone else or the summoner I was picking with.

y dont u pick ur role faster

SoMNia3 votes

I don't think you understand the concept of "fill".

Joe Dredd1 votes

maybe he wants to fill as well

SoMNia2 votes

The other person never actually said "fill", or anything at all. So I'm gonna go with no. The point of fill is that you make sure everybody else gets to pick what they want first. If somebody else on the team does not communicate at all, "pick faster" isn't the solution. The solution is for people to stop AFKing at champion select.

Joe Dredd1 votes

at this point this is basically the old debate about the toilet seat yea the guy can put it down but the girl can look before she sits the guy couldve said something in chat the op couldve noticed his absence and picked faster

ivnkoxhcuc1 votes

But he was saying things in chat, so I assumed he was there. It's not like he AFK'd. He just didn't pick until last second.

WeiseAzir2 votes

OH GEE solo que, i can't wait to play support!

Jrud2 votes

I agree it's not cool, but unfortunately, I think riot has bigger issues in their game than fixing the champ select :(

I would like to humbly suggest to you that you try to join a ranked team and forget all about solo queue.

Just The Tipper2 votes

Ok, so I'd say I try to be a social guy when in champ select. This really pisses me off when there inst communication. especially if you get pissed off at me for choosing your role. This is a team game and more people need to start seeing it
