PSA for Rengar players
If you are feeding, go tank.
"But I will do nothing if I go tank"
You are already doing nothing, at least this way you will do nothing for a few seconds longer.

That's not just for Rengar. That's for basically every non-ADC.
You mean starting to build
at 25 minutes when I'm 0/7/2
is wrong?
whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
If you are feeding on rengar, why are you playing rengar.

Or , if they play decent and just have a bad game , they could farm till late game ( his spells damage scale with level ) and you could try NOT TO FIGHT 4V5.
Yeah I've been playing tank Rengar for a long time now, just cause I prefer that playstyle over the much easier one shot combo version.
I was told something cool by a teammate in a match a couple days ago that was really flattering and I think makes a lot of sense. They said:
"You know a Rengar main is actually a good Rengar player and not just cheesing his way through ELO when he can successfully play him as a tank."
It made me feel good, getting recognized as a skilled Rengar player and not just being constantly bombarded by "noob champ" comments from the enemy team the whole game. So yeah I encourage all Rengar players who consider themselves Rengar mains but never play him as tank to actually deliberately build him tank and play as the initiator/backline diving bruiser for a while. You'll understand much more about him and not just the easy one shot combo, and it will in turn make you even better as an assassin as well, because without a doubt playing Rengar as a tank is much more difficult then as an assassin, and you'll truly understand why LCS shoutcasters constantly refer to him as a "difficult champ," cause honestly as an assassin you almost never really see it.
I'm a Rengar main, I learned him by playing him as a bruiser. I might go back there some time soon...
This thread is a gathering of ignorance. People who know nothing trying to comment on something as if they're actually expert mains. Pls. And to the guy who thinks that 'Tank Rengar' is more skill full than Full Damage Rengar, like lol wut? Are you implying that tanks are more skilful than squishes? That Champion builds that are resilient and therefore can get away with fucking up are more skilful than champion builds that are glass, and have to pull everything off PERFECTLY to get things done properly and not fall flat on their face? WAT? Are you implying that guys like Dekar and Akaadian are inferior because they play full damage Rengar? Wat? Check yourself.
If you're behind you build MORE damage as an Assassin so that you can try and TURN things around and get AHEAD. You don't just resign yourself to a state of inferiority and build TANKY when building TANKY will put you in a state that isn't OPTIMAL and won't allow you to COMEBACK. The amount of times that I've had some idiot tell me to build tanky because I wasn't doing so hot, only for me to turn things around and carry their ignorant asses is just lowhgjwiehwut. Do not presume to be knowledgeable about things that you know NOTHING about. Do not offer advice that is infact counterproductive.
Building Tank Rengar isn't optimal. If you disagree ask Nightblue3, the guy who used to SWEAR BY IT, until Akaadian dunked him on stream over, and over again and over again, and completely turned around a bad game. Oh yeah, pretty sure Akaadian died like 3 times in his jungle that game pre-10 mins, didn't build tank doe.
Outside of that, that Cinderhulk build does look quite interesting, I think I'll try it out sometime.
I don't anyone here is trying to say tank Rengar is optimal. People are stating tank Rengar is harder to play, imstead of just doing one combo, you'll propably need to use the bush passive a few times to get a kill. I also agreed on building damage when behind.
Lol, as a rengar main, i approve. :) +1
AP cat is the real deal:
You have to W twice and half the enemy team is dead, but your early game is trash.

I played with an AP runeglaive rengar top on the PBE back when runeglaive procced ludens. Numbers approximate from memory,
He went 1-9 in the first 20 minutes of the game.
He ended that 30 minute game 25-11. It was ridiculous, 1shotting squishies left and right.
Pretty retarded idea. Just move into farming and warding. Rengar is purely for deleting the adcarry, running out and then going back in once the rest are low enough.
if you are 0/7/2, and your inventory looks like this at 27 minutes

It is safe to say that you wont be doing damage, and you most certainly wont be living long in a teamfight.

You deal about as much damage, mostly using your W durability and E utility to succeed, and HEY LOOK YOU ARENT DEAD YET
if u r building warrior enchant u need to uninstall, bottom line.
Is this a joke? It's one of the most gold efficient AD items in the game.
Rengar wannabes don't understand this, they see the mobafire guides where you skip it for the items with actives that are part of his easy one shot combo and assume that's the only way to do it, not realizing how little they actually know about Rengar and itemization in general.
you dont have to build it in any situation to be honest.
Being a sheep and not buying it because Nightblue doesn't is just stupid. High level players know how to play around their build's powerspike, sheep don't.
im pretty sure i know how to play rengar
It wasn't directed at you, but at people with no itemization understanding. Sorry if it offended you
what do you suggest instead? afk farming devourer and doing nothing for 20 minutes?
if you build devourer u really need to unisntall
So...... you build Runeglaive on him?
ap rengar does work
sigh. this is why i cant take boards seriously
Well, you said both Warrior and Devourer were not choices, and Cinderhulk on an assassin is dumb, so I'm guessing you picked Runeglaive.
the problem with the community is the knowloedge gap
And what does that have to do with the lack of logical jungle items you picked for Rengo?
Yes.
AP rengar is the best thing ever to grace league of legends, and do not let anyone tell you otherwise. You should go try it in solo queue right now.
And then I'll try Mid Olaf and ADC Kennen.

Then you are bad. No reason to go on. Switching to tank wont make you not bad.
It'll make you mildly useful to your team though
It will make you a meat shield. Gives your team more time to actually do something. It's not about making Rengar who's behind good - it's about making him less bad and easier to carry by his team.
This is true for nearly every champion in the League.
but it will make you less bad

If their build looks like that by 27 minutes, what makes you think they have the gold to buy all of the fancy tank items you suggested? I'd rather finish my Ravenous Hydra instead of clogging my inventory space with cloth armor and ruby crystals and still have my tiamat
+
+
1900 gold+800 gold+800 gold= 3500 gold (4100 gold if you finish ravenous)
+
1000 gold +2750 gold= 3750 gold
+
1200 gold + 2700 gold= 3900 gold
Hell, you could even go
+
1000 gold +2550 gold= 3550 gold
If you are 0/7/2 in the midgame, chances are good that you died a lot early. When you start feeding as Rengar (unless your enemy seriously misplays) you will will not be a damage threat at any point, and as such you should not go for ravenous in the first place, and just spec as a tank.
LOL the sad part is that a Rengar with that build:
who was also 0-7 was able to delete me and my Support, both of us being extremely fed (I was 15-1 with MF, she was like 1-4-25 with Lulu) in like 2 - 3 seconds at the most. It's kind of sad but even when Rengar is behind his damage output is stupidly high with almost no counterplay to it. Well, at least people are saying It's a good idea to pink ward Rengar's damage.

But you get reported for having two boots.
the "/" means "or". obviously.
Yes I would also like the items in the second build but going tank doesn't mean i can magically turn the 3500 gold for a Tiamat + vamp + mobis into the 7650 gold for tabi + mercs + deadman's + visage.

You do realise there are two pairs of boots listed there, right? He's saying either have Tabis/Plate OR Mercs/Visage, which is around 3700 gold for either option.
That was dumb of me.
Still, seems a bit deceptive. Tiamat + Vamp is approximately a dmp/SV, putting more expensive boots in the second build just seems dishonest to me.
Additionally, it's just comparing the builds at the exact gold breakpoint where you complete defensive items, and have slightly too little gold to get the most cost effective offensive upgrades (item completion).
The post is just being deceitful imo to try to make the defensive build look superior.

My friend actually mains tank rengar, and he still is extremely useful and still does plenty of damage.
For rengar, I'd actually almost prefer the keep going for damage, just not play like they can kill whoever they want.
Rengar job is to one shot someone. The probe I usually see isn't lack of defense from him, but trying to play like he's fed when he's behind
I know another champ that jumped out of no where and deleted ADC's instantly with no counter play. Her name was Fiora. Rengar rework where? HL3 confirmed.
