Ok, can we do something about Taric?

Before you say anything, yes I know he has a good winrate, and yes, very rarely you even see him in pro play, but lets be honest, this is only because his Ultimate is plain broken.

Taric is the definition of a one trick pony, his Ultimate is one of the most borken abilities in the game, the rest of his kit plain SUCKS!

I mean, what does he have? A heal people dont even level before they have to and only use it to activate his passive )(I know some people who just never spend the 4 last points to keep the mana costs low because the heal sucks anyway...), a shield that becomes weaker on the tagets you actually want to shield (like for example your ADC) and a stun that is super easy to avoid...

Honestly, just replace his Ultimate and make his other abilities good. I wouldnt mind having his old Ultimate back instead, I loved that spell. I might be the only person in this game who actually loved the old Taric anyway, he was my go to support, my highest mastery champion before the rework and I hate seeing what happened to him. (even though he looks freaking fabulous, great job on the visual rework!)

His new kit is fine and is heal and shield are both very strong if you actually know how to use them. His stun is also leagues better than his old one. You can hit multiple targets with it, lauch it off an ally.... it's just no longer point and click.

If you actually get stuned by a Taric that didnt use flash or another Champions CC first... You are just bad, sry...

And pls tell me how a Heal that nearly costs more mana than it restores HP on a giant Cooldown is "Very strong". Tarics heal has the worst cost/heal ratio in the game. And thats on literally a 45s CD... Yes, it can heal multiple people, but the AoE is so small, that you will end up just healing yourself and your partner most times. Sometimes maybe one additional person, but thats it. I take a Level 1 Karma Shield over a Taric Heal on max rank any day!

Just look at the LCS game from yesterday. Taric hit a handfull of stuns, most times he was just in the back waiting to use his Ultimate. So much fun...

But I am sure someone who barely ever played Taric knows more than someone who mained the old Taric and git bored of the one trick Pony rework Taric in mere weeks...

Requiemsfire2 votes

As someone who plays plenty of current Taric, people who mained old taric know jack all about current taric and really shouldn't be criticizing or suggesting changes when they don't even play him.

Raoul1 votes

So you are fine with him being a one trick pony?

Requiemsfire1 votes

Am I fine with it? Of course, the rework is a breathe of fresh air and is so much more exciting to play than old taric ever was with the only mechanical aspect of him being that single stun. Now you get to make plays, with your heal, bonus armour and mini shield to protect your ally while ensuring that you time your ult proficiently, you have to aim your stun and when it lands its very rewarding. I dropped the walking stun bot as a support main within mere moments of trying him out because I couldn't get over how underwhelming he felt compared to my other supports like Thresh and Leona. New Taric is a different case.

So ölet me guess, you were one of these people who ignored everything Taric brought to a team because he didnt do it in a flashy obvious way, and now that everything he does sparkels and glitters and looks nice, you belive hes doing so much more than before, when in fact every aspect besides his ult and that he can possible hit multiple people with his stun and heal (which barely happens anyway, even in silver people know how to dodge it) actually became weaker than before?

In case you dont know it: He used to heal more, on a way shorter Cooldown and lower cost, and you could actually decide to only heal yourself for an even bigger burst heal, which was awesome for tank taric.
He used to get more Armor for himself and give more to his allies, EVERY allied Champion around him BTW, and he could shred a nice amount of armor on the enemy, which made him an awesome pick against tanks. Plus it had some really nice AoE dmg, which meant you didnt have to blow your stun to do some damage in a fight. His stun, while singel target, could therefore actually be used on a priority target, which your barely see these days. These days Taric just stuns someone in the frontline. And even his passive actualy got worse. Sure, if you look at it isolated, it looks better, but now it means more downtime between abilities for the same CDR, and since all of his abilities now have way longer CDs (His heal CD wentz up by 31 seconds, even if we consider that it gets tripple the CDR from the passive that would still mean 10 seconds more if you somehow manage to always have the passive up), his W has 5 seconds more and his E 1 second more, which in the end means: You can use your passive less than before, which results in less damage output AND less CDR.

The only thing that actually became better is his Ultimate, every other ability is actually worse than before, but now its shiny and looks so cool when you are doing it...

It wasn't a matter of whether or not he was more useful, it was a matter of how fun he was actually to play. old taric lacked in all interactive aspects that you may as well have been playing Sona who is equally boring.

Raoul1 votes

And for you fun to play equals how flashy his abilities are?

When you can potentially make plays, you as a player are given more power at multiple points in the game, catching that one person out, making that clutch heal, engaging opportunistically, it changes the state of the game and has the potential to win games based on player skill which I feel is very rewarding. Monotonous champions like Annie, old Taric, old Yorick didn't really have that play making potential thus their gameplay can be described as A or B and while these champions may come off as strong when ahead when they're behind it feels rather hopeless simply because of their stat check nature.

You could make these plays before... get in, hit the ADC with a stun and shred the frontlines Armor, giving your team bonus AD/AP and watch them tear down the enemy bruisers while you stick to the enemy backline and stun the important targets. The only thing thats different is that the glittery gem line makes it more obvious that you are doing it. I mean, you say that old Taric was Monotonous, but the only thing that really changed is how it looks when you stun. Oh yeah, every 10th game in bronze, every 20th game in silver and every 100th game in gold you might hit a stun on three people, but thats rare, most times you will still only have one stun target.

And clutch heal was more likely to happen on the old Taric than the new...

Your inability to land a stand doesn't mean that it's hard to land a stun on multiple targets as Taric. You also fail to realize that Taric's stun occurs at much longer a much longer range, synergizes with champions like LeeSin Lucian RekSai and that he has a constant refreshable shield. Finally, all of his abilities thanks to bastion are not gated by Taric's lack of mobility.

Finally Taric in worlds Rox vs ANX look how long Lucian survives in this skirmish. https://youtu.be/PztGZjqTzn4?t=4388

His heal CD is 15 seconds a charge. His AA passive reduces this by 6 seconds per AA for a total of twelve. That's 3 seconds. If you build 45% cdr, the CD is 6.75 seconds. Each AA reducing it by like 3.3. So that means you have like a .15 cd between charges so long as you are proccing your passive. His heal is 60(+20% AP ) (1.5% bonus hp) at 1 charge and 180(+60% AP)(+4.5% bonus hp) at 3 charges. You have two Zones and could theoretically give your entire team good heal. If you proc your passive right it would't be too hard to get off at least a 3 and 2 stack heal relatively instantaneously.

Tarics rework was essentially the level of making him an entirely new champion so any knowledge you had pre-work Taric is entirely irrelevant. I also plaid a fair amount of Taric when I needed a tankier supp. I didn't main him sure, but he was not an overly complex champion. I'm sorry you can't land a linear skill shot that doesn't suffer from minion block. Might I suggest taking him into a bots game so you can get a feel for the time between his ramp up and discharge on the stun? Once you get that it might be a bit easier to position yourself to land stuns against actual players

Taric's fine.

Checking your match history, your last game with Taric was in may 2016. lel

Yes, because I hate the one trick pony he has become.

When you checked me, you will also see that despite not playing the new Taric, he is still my third most played hero, which says alot about how much I loved him before his rework. Sure, most of his power was invisible, but he was good. Now he has one flashy Ult and thats it.

Ok, in a big teamfight, you might be able to hit a stun, but well, you could do that before. Only one target, but you could at least do other things. The armor reduction from his shatter was great to shred through frontline tanks or make the enemy ADC take nearly true damage from physical attacks, His heals were actually strong and worth skilling, and giving the whole team AP and AD gave them an edge in teamfights.

Now look at him today. His Q? One point to trigger his passive, not skilled until you have to, worst heal to cost ratio in the game, 45s CD. His W sucks on low HP targets like ADC (you know, the ones you are supposed to protect) and only makes tanks stronger, when you get a 4k HP tank, its the strongest shield in the game, but on your ADC or Mid laner, its maybe the weakest shield in the game. And the stun? Honestly, I never saw an enemy taric hit me unless I was already in a stun or slow or he flashed. The last game C9 vs Dig showed that again, most of the time Taric was in the back, waiting for the opportunity to cast his ultimate, while throwing a stun every 10 seconds from the tank Nautilus he used his W on.

He is a walking Zhonyas on steroids, and the rest of his kit doesnt even matter. Yes he can do it, but alot of others do it way better. But his Ultimate is broken as hell, so he has a good winrate...

And as my make this thread, hes actually picked in LCS, and what a suprise, besides some Ultimates he does nothing...
