Heimeerdinger Support

Right now, as a level 24, I main Heimerdinger Top, (mastery 4). Sometimes, I like playing him support if top has already been called. The problem is, my ADC rages at me for stealing their minions, and tells me to stop else they'll report me for throwing the game, or having lack of teamwork. Because of this, I end up not putting out my turrets, unless if in the middle of a team fight, and at that point, its usually to late. Can someone give me advise on how not to steal minion kills? I don't try to but, my turrets always seem to last hit. THANKS!

Use the turrets as something to fall back onto, rather than putting them in the middle of the minion wave. If you really have to, tell your adc to last hit the minions as your own turrets hit them to push the wave faster.

Heimer is a great support if you can do well with him, don't let anyone tell you what's viable. (Unless it's like soraka jungle or something obvious like that) Your team comp only really matters in competitive play. Unless you're challenger or something like that, you can win any matchup by simply being the better player.

Yes...turrets can be a great defense. A fall back position

Wouldn't suggest it, Donger turrets are random at times for minion targetting and even the standard move around and then auto tactic gag can never work with a disruptive damage source like the turrets which can hit pretty fast and not counting their AoE 'pierce' charge shots they do after a bit of time.

Its easy enough to gauge how fast a minion's health drops and then figure out how low it needs to be to last hit, when you have supports 'lowering' the health of those minions faster it tends to screw the pacing up and sometimes you do not want to kill the waves fast and rather keep it at a even pace with the enemy team's minions so you don't push it too hard and open yourself up for the jungler to try and take a swing at ganking, especially if they are highly mobile(RengarKhazix ) can jump on you with ease(RengarKhazix ) and they have empowered gimmicks with no standard mana resource(Rengar) and can dish out high amounts of damage in short spans of time especially due to particular 'gimmicks' (Rengar Khazix).

A 'great support' is only good if it can work in general with any ADC, which doesnt work if the ADC has to change up their standard play'style just because of a 'unique' support type.

And no, there's a difference between a aggressive support and a protective support VS Supports with a special gimmick that if not properly utilized right, if it can be utilized right, can utterly cost bot lane, especially if your ADC friend is not aware enough on how that support your using works and might get pissed off if you aren't being 'helpful'.

Some examples include Bard and Ivern. Bard could at first be seen as a 'troll' support because he has to run around the map to pick up chimes to power up his passive that augments his passive in alot of ways. Utilized right, he can be a brutal 'harassive' support by being able to stun slam enemies with his Q, dish out strong damage thru his passive's auto enhancer and his W and E can grant useful heal+move speed boosts and map movement by creating portals thru walls, ultimate being a zhonya's on anything in the area is a extra boon in many ways.

Ivern in that same regard can be played jungle or support, with him playing the latter role, makes him also likely have to hit up the jungle a bit to set up easy jungle clears, especially to 'give out free red/blue buff' to your allies, get scuttle crab for river vision, etc. Though he has plenty in his kit to still harass an opponent and keep your ally safe with a nice explosive shield to help damage out any diver too if they keep sticking to your ADC buddy, if you didnt manage to hit them with his Root ability or your rooting spell is still on CD, which also opens up good opps for gang banging a target caught by it for your team. Though still if you use his bushes improperly he could utterly screw up and give enemies cover for themselves to ambush you thru ivern's bushes since you can't target enemies in a bush if you have no means of vision inside the bush.

There's many more examples but a support is a champion made to harass and lock down an opponent and also at times keep their ADC safe whether by assaulting the enemy champion or using some gimmick (Braum ) to keep them safe against especially aggressive bot lane opponents. Does not really work when even one of the abilities in that champion's kit is quite useless for bot lane and could cause more trouble then help things out.

Heimer is a bit too item reliant to really be a strong support pick. And, to an extent, it's very hard to really take advantage as an un-gankable pusher in a duo lane for a host of reasons. I've played the majority of champions as support and his was one of the worst.

don't play heim support, at all... take him mid, he's more viable mid than he is top but i guess he's decent top, should probably buy an easy support like soraka if you do get stuck with it but until then keep him mid primarily and top if you feel like it

I can never get mid, and when I do, i usually get 3-4 people ganks, where i die, instead of 2 people ganks top, which i can survive, or die but get a double kill.

The key reason the donger can't support is because your turrets attack anything in sight, you really should only play him mid or sometimes top(which is only more of a counter douche pick to screw with top lane opponent and likely a bad idea if your team is seriously lacking in tanks since normally a tank or tank/fighter'ish character like Garen, Darius and so on go in top lane normally, sometimes few special exceptions, one of them being Quinn whose basically a AD Marksman who works like a fighter with all her engage power she has that also lets her be strong in damage pump out). His kit is still one of harass bully because of his retarded zoning power even in the early game and then a experienced one can make use of the turrets, especially after getting item 3116 to keep you perma slow while in range of the turrets so he can easily stun and then proceed to point blank hit you with all the missiles.

For you to even consider that donger is a 'support' is likely because you thought his passive was helpful, its more of a padding gag for him to keep his turrets around longer and it affecting allies is just his way of being 'helpful' to the team by letting them recover a tiny bit faster then normal. Plain and simple: Donger might as well be more of a area lock down type of champion but he is not a carry, support or even a high mobility champion, more of a will screw you if he can get his turrets set up and then utterly lock you down with slow itemization and then blast you to death and a side of zhonya abuse to throw out a upgraded turret, let it blast you and if they focus on you then quickly zhonyas and let the giant turret wrek them hard.

I still consider 'The Donger', just like Syndra, to be the 'scumbag middle picks' which just like Azir in the past(doesn't work as much these days because of all the nerfs he got but he is still annoying to go against), they could harass you in lane so easily that they can out CS you, force you out of lane to run back to base and then proceed to utterly get you under'fed in mid, take the middle turret down fast since they just keep you locked down from trying to push and they can just push it less your jungler gets dedicated in mauling them for alot of feed.

You'll need to learn alot in League of legends on the 'typical' picks for each lane especially the meta ones, because unless you know your building and champion quite well, pulling off really weird champion picks in roles they would never be played in is basically the 'clown fiesta style', screwing around and not caring about winning the match, just ruin it for the enemy team instead.

Unless you are playing with an adc that is willing to play with your turrets, either placed back under tower so you can fall back to them or just deal with your strong lane push and occasional minion kills, I imagine most heimer support games are going to be a pretty negative experience. If you play heimer top you know that his turrets make him a super strong lane pusher, which can be a bad thing in bot lane where your adc is trying to farm without pushing up too far and getting ganked. If you play without the turrets, you still have a decent kit with rockets for harass and grenade for a stun, but there are better supports out there that can provide those things.

Heim sup is technically a thing, but it's played differently from a solo heim and is kinda awkward because of the turret csing issue. With a competent adc it shouldn't be much of an issue as you won't be building much ap if any, and so they can still last hit more often than not if they account for turret damage as well. The issue is, sufficiently competent adcs tend to be at an elo where heim sup isn't a thing anyway (as supports at that elo tend to play more conventional supports).

In any case, the idea would be to keep turrets off to the side to minimise minion agro and/or behind the minion wave so it's a fallback nest. If you're on sup donger, your laning phase is mostly going to be as a stun bot with missle poke much more so than being turret oriented.
