nasus, trundle, voli, garen and even a support like leona ... all of their q's can hit the turret and deal extra damage... so why not rengar's?

Because it's not his job. Rengar used to be able to do this, but people were getting tired of Rengar pushing until someone comes to deal with him and then he ults away, etc. He's an assassin, not some tower-bulldozing brute like those champs lol

Rengar will still take down a tower faster than Leona anyday. It's not like he can't wreck towers anyway

Yasuo blows up towers fast as it is, the same way Rengar does. It's not about role comparison. It's about what the champion is designed to do. Is Rengar supposed to kill people? Yeah Is he supposed to sneak around like a rat and splitpush? Probably not within the scope of his character design, but he still can. He just doesn't get to be the best at it.

To quote Riot on the issue:

On its own, split pushing isn't an unhealthy strategy, but Rengar could do it with few tradeoffs (especially given his split pushing speed). Ultimately we preserved the more skill-intensive parts of Rengar, like his ability to stalk foes while moving around the fight, and tuned down his less interactive power.

I think it's due to his high damage and his ultimate, plus, Leona doesn't have AD ratios and doesn't really have an escape (she's much easier to catch single than Rengar, and can't do much without her team with mediocre AP ratios). Still, it's a waste of her Q to even use it on a tower, the only reason I could ever think of doing that is to reset her aa if it's really close to dying rather than dealing massive damages.

I wonder if Rengar's ferocity effect still activates, though, because I'm sure boosted attack speed and AD will still work on towers. Riot doesn't really like assassins being able to split-push too effectively, hence Zed's recent base AS nerf, but they've been trying to help tanks out a little bit when it comes to tower pressure item 3717 item 3512 so they probably don't mind them using weak abilities to scratch at a tower.

Still tho, waste of a good Leona Q...

leona q is quite low CD on higher ranks, i always use it for towers when im with my adc and i know there wont be any ganks soon

its something that came with the ballance

there saw time when rengar was the master of all the pushing so riot nerfed during the rework, now when kitty has his weakere days and could use that tower stab back he just wont get it

ikr riot wants to prove any champ can play (almost) any role, then why nerf rengar when he was extremely good on top lane too
his laning days are over while nasus can 2 shot a turret

his is only effective when he pops out out of nowhere and removes your carry, he barely can even think of escaping

Because he used to backdoor faster than master yi or nasus... His stealth + noone in the base= victory. You can still splitpush and gtfo with ult, if they come for you

if the other team is good, they will keep a pink or sweeper... and they have already nerfed his ult, it takes 7 seconds for him to go invisible if he's under attack (even by minions) teemo's shrooms are so effective against him

not every game will have a teemo...and if the rengar is god he will have warded to know when the enemy is coming and ult before they could get in sweeper range
