Trinkets go on 2 minute cd when upgrading

Anyone else find it odd that upgrading your trinket puts it on the same 2 minute cooldown that you usually get for swapping between trinket lines? It seems very counter-intuitive to me, where if an adc were to get the upgraded trinket at 9 to help ward (hah yeah right), they still have to wait 2 minutes before doing anything.

Yeah I get mad everytime I upgrade it and it feels stupid, especially if you're trinket wasn't on cooldown before the upgrade.

it goes on cd if the current cd is anything shorter than half of the cd left

This actually got me killed at one point. I had forgotten that the trinket goes on cooldown when you get it upgraded so I didn't buy a regular ward to go with it. When I got to lane I quickly discovered that I didn't have any wards to put down so I couldn't spot the enemy gank machine coming in (they were a heavy gank jungler). They really should fix this.

It was my fault, yes. However, it shouldn't be a possible mistake. I shouldn't be punished (even temporarily) for trying to get better vision for my team by spending my gold.

So you've learned that it goes on cd when you upgrade. Adjust your buying sequence to this knowledge. Now that you know, you'll buy a ward next time while your trinket comes off cd.

I normally buy trinket when I die or immediately when I come back to base. Normally it's up by the time I need it.

;lol at the downvotes. 'Waah Riot I'm not smart enough to remember it goes on cooldown. Fix this for idiots like me!'

I should make it clear that I support the idea of fixing the cooldown proc, but you have the knowledge that FOR NOW it goes on cooldown. It's your fault, not the trinket's.

Wow, your edit. Eat my downvote.

I feel like the cooldowns should carry over from your previous trinket and essentially have a global cooldown for whatever trinket you have or upgrade.

I mean in all honesty, what does having your trinket go on a 2 minute cooldown when upgraded accomplish?

Nothing and it makes no sense. Paying 250 gold to not use your trinket for 2 minutes, but then afterwards, have something better... It's a waste of time.

I think if they are going to keep the cooldown, they should at least make the cooldown last less time if the trinket was already off cooldown.

Yes this is the weird thing. Sometimes, when I upgrade the trinket, I ward our fountain since it's of no use anyways.

ya same here if i feel like i need the upgrade now i shouldn't have to wait 2 minutes what if i needed to clear some wards for objectives or maybe i wanted the trinket upgrade so i put some more wards on the map for more map control i just feel like 2 min cd is really unnecessary

hi from LAN hehe yeah i feel the same way, i understand that if you change from a trinket to the other it be on colddown so you dont just abuse it to place a trinket ward then swap to a len, but why should we be punished to decide to upgrade our trinket? the one we already commit from the beginning?

i think you got compensated

Yeah, this has been bugging me for a long time.

Yeah it does and its annoying... but sometimes it doesnt.. i think for the sweeping lens it doesnt for some reason. either way i dont think upgrading trinkets should count as "selling trinkets" and have the 2 min cd.

I never understood it either. And why 2 minutes? That's 2 minutes of vision that you and your team have lost, by trying to be helpful and upgrading your trinket.

Borbland1 votes

It should be 1 minute. 2 minute is far too long.

Or put the 2 minutes only if you swap trinkets, but now it's just annyoing how long you have to wait to have your trinket ready.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

Agreed. If you're upgrading it then it should keep the cd that it was on. If you're swapping from basic yellow trinket to upgraded blue (for example) then it should go on full cd.
