How doe Riot justify leaving Cho the way he is?

6000 hp CC tank doing true damage.

I can't even understand the level of bias towards letting Cho stay in this stupid state. Or is it just incompetence...or maybe stupidity, like they don't understand WHY its a problem?

Riot, class act as always. Whoops, meant ass act.

just a guess here but im gonna go on a limb and say that cho is one of the most played champs for new players.

Because he's not overpowered. He has clear counters and counterplay.

Avoid the knockup to avoid getting nommed.

Haha wow. Okay. So a champ that does 3 of the most important things BETTER than other champions is not overpowered?

MORE HEALTH, TANKY AF MORE DAMAGE, TRUE DAMAGE THAT SCALES OFF OF HIS AP AND HIS BS HEALTH 3 forms of CC

not to mention 2 forms of poke and harass, and high AP scaling.

How are you even trying to argue this?

It's also about doing things reliably. The only thing Cho'Gath can do reliably is be tanky.

His knockup is extremely telegraphed, by both the targeting circle on the ground, and the signature animation. It's actually impossible to not avoid if you aren't already CC'd by anything; there's always a way you can run out of it before it actually lands.

Also, if he opts for an AP build, he will have [unreliable] poke, but will not be tanky. If he opts for a tanky build, he won't have poke.

His ult one shots with True Damage, but it can only do that under extremely specific circumstances AND has an extremely short range.

Long story short - git gud. Avoid the skillshots and don't let him walk up to you, and he's not nearly as powerful.

Your response is basically "play better"

Which anyone can say anytime about any champion in any state. Your approach leaves no room for discussing if a champion is too strong just because its POSSIBLE to beat him. Its not the point and your scenarios are not taking into account team fights late game.

You have basically said nothing. GOOD JOB.

Yeah, because that's all it really takes.

Okay buddy, well good luck with your limited thinking.

I agree with your points, but at no stage in this game is it acceptable for a tank to pop an item that grants them 9-12k health, and then instantly kill whoever they can get in range of with their ultimate. It's terrible design, and I'd rather see Cho'gath be changed in a way that's meaningful to his playerbase, and actually cohesive to his character.

At the same time, though, there's other items that have just as large of impacts on teamfights and the meta as a whole. Locket and Redemption come to mind.

The counterplay is there, and Stoneplate is a limited, 4 second window. If you can stay away from him for that long, then his threat is greatly diminished. With the breadth of CC out there, I personally can't find a way there isn't counterplay to a Cho, even with Stoneplate popped.

Besides, what's not character cohesive about gulping down an enemy in a single gulp? He's called the World Eater, after all.

You are still arguing withing a vacuum. Counterplay...that's great, this is a team game. And when a champion is over powered, it doesn't matter if a person knows how to squeeze out of win in lane against the champion, or even if they manage to have a better late game. This game is a team game, with nearly infinite variables and situations, played by humans who make mistakes. Meaning, in the aggregate, a champ like cho often fucks your teammates and you have zero control over that. His damage with his tankiness also increases his margin for error as he doesn't die easily.
