Veigar's ult is broken

So I've been playing against a lot of Veigars these days. I play a lot of AP champs, not only midlane, but jungle. I've been playing Lux, Leblanc, Elise, etc.. What I want to talk about is the fact that Veigar's ult deals a massive amount of damage. But not only that, It is a target. I usually poke the opponent Veigar so he can miss some farm. But the Veigar I'm against just play defensively and farms from a range that I cannot reach with Lux's E for example. The games I did today were really annoying. In 22 minutes, the Veigar did 1000 damage with his W (he probably maxed it second). Veigar's overall burst is insane, but all of his spells have counterplay. BUT, his ult being a target that can deals 3000 damage to someone is something that I really hate. A champion should not be allowed to do that much damage with only one spell and the fact that it is a target doesnt help. To counterplay that spell you need a lot of magic resist (in that case I used my Lux's shield, my barrier and my Athenes and it did not do anything against his ult.Don't forget his ult also does a certain amount of his target's AP). 24 minutes in, he completely removed 3/4 of my HP with his ult. Plus, an adc is not going to buy a Zhonyas only to counter Veigar's ult. That's why I think it should need some changes.

Facts about his ult : Primordial Burst Cost: 125 Mana Range: 650 Blasts target enemy champion, dealing a large base amount of magic damage plus 80% of his target's ability power. Blasts an enemy champion, dealing 250/375/500 (+100% Ability Power) plus 80% of his target's ability power in magic damage.

3000 dmg with his ult alone.... in order to get to that level of damage, you need to have bought next to no MR, built full AP, and let him get close to 2k AP... If thats happening, you have bigger problems than his ult.

I don't know man, something seems wrong here.

More seriously, Veigar's ult is literally the only reliable part of his kit. His Q can be blocked by minions, his W and E can both be avoided easily. It's not even long range; if you're getting Veigar ulted as Lux at 24 minutes your positioning sucks and you should be punished for it. Not to mention that Elise can dodge it entirely unless you're standing on his face and not paying enough attention to dodge it, and at that point it doesn't matter whether it's targeted or a skillshot.

It also seems like you have no idea how to control waves, which is something very important but simple when playing against Veigar. To farm his Q efficiently (double stacking), he has to push lane. Let him do it. Don't push back, just last-hit minions, and tell your jungler that there's a free kill mid if Veigar pushes, because he's an immobile squishy with no early damage and an easily dodged stun. If he doesn't push, congratulations he's not farming his q as much and is sacrificing his lategame. If he pushes but doesn't leave tower, congratulations you got free CS while denying him farm.

Or since you play Leblanc just kill him. It's really easy. Also build pen boots first item to avoid building AP as much as possible.

For ADCs, you need to get it through your damn heads that you're not supposed to be able to 1v1 mages, assassins, or tanks without a heavy advantage. If he's blowing you up in teamfights, you're positioning wrong, your teammates/you aren't punishing him for positioning wrong, and/or he's just way too fed for anyone to do a thing about him. If it's really a problem, play sivir or buy a banshees and become nearly unkillable to him.

You're completely right, when I play Leblanc I usually have the ability to bait his stun and take him down after. I forgot too about the banshee and the fact that Sivir has a spellshield XD . I can control my lane with Leblanc and Lux, but in those situations I was probably doing something wrong. And yes, like you said, I should really take advantage of him pushing lane. When I play Lux/Leblanc I'm always agressive, I poke (but not too much so I can keep my mana for other spells) and try to deny their farm when my opponent is trying to get some CS. I mean I never struggled that much against other midlaners. I always have the feeling of winning lane, but then Veigar comes and deals a lot of damage one shot. In my head, to "counter" Veigar, I'm supposed to punish him when he gets closer to get his stacks. I understand very well what you've been telling me. He's really week early, lacks damage, has small range and has no mobility. Veigar is not op, it's just me and my friends who were talking about his ult few days ago. His flash ult is really annoying thought xD I've seen other comments too, 3000 was indeed exagerating. Oh and thanks for the tip about buying pen boots before AP when against him. I never really think about it.

Veigar's abilities do a lot of damage because he has "less ability" to do damage, as in the opportunities, circumstances, and regularity to do damage is less than other champions. This is pretty clear.

his ult being a target that can deals 3000 damage to someone is something that I really hate.

If his ultimate actually was dealing 3000 damage, there were very good reasons for that.

Very true. He shouldn't get damage from your AP. He already one shots people and now we get punished for doing well?
