Idea for Gallo’s W

This is Galio’s W

Galio charges a defensive stance, moving slowly. Upon releasing the charge, Galio will taunt and damage nearby enemies. Passive: After not taking damage for 12 seconds Galio gains a shield that absorbs 0 magic damage. First Cast: Galio starts to charge, gaining 20/25/30/35/40 (+0)(+0)% Damage Reduction from Magic Damage and [0]% of that amount as Damage Reduction from Physical Damage. While charging, Galio slows himself by 15%. Second Cast: Galio taunts nearby enemy champions for 0.5 to 1.5 seconds, deals 0 (+0) to {{ f10 }} (+{{ f11 }}) damage, and refreshes the Damage Reduction for 2 seconds. Taunt duration, damage, and radius increase with charge time. - League Wiki

Idea:

My idea was that while Gallo is in his first cast, he would be immune to slows (not his own slow), stuns, roots, and silences. I think this would allow more room for Gallo to be more successful in team fights and in lane phase. To compensate for this, (I mean you already took his flash W away) you can lower his Q damage, and get rid of his W passive (because it is utterly useless).

He isn’t supposed to be a mage, he is a guardian. What do you guys think?

I was just discussing Galio's W in another thread. https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/lxArs0fz-galio-is-zero-fun-anymore?comment=000300000001

how would you feel if they replaced his W with a simple form of CC ?: like Shen taunt or Rammus taunt? The last explanation I heard from Riot was that his W gave him too much power to force team fights.

Galios W, an AOE hard CC, is just too powerful. I don't think he'll ever be in a good spot as long as he has that.

How about this:

on first cast Galios gains X armor and magic resist for up to 12 seconds, and get a stack for each ability cast around him. On second cast, for the next 12 seconds galio gets Y amount of AP for each stack gathered during the first cast.

This plays into his magic absorbing theme, and gives him a tool to survive being in the middle of things while also adding to his mage role.

What do you think?

How about just removing taunt from his kit? How about letting him blow his shield up to stun targets around him for 1 second, and debuffing them so he does big bonus damage to them with his passive, Q, E, and R for the next 5 seconds.

Them trying to make the taunt work in his kit is obviously too difficult to balance properly. Galio is not defined by his taunt..he is supposed to be a tank mage that counters heavy AP teams, and can do more damage than the average tank from range, as well as being a better than average lane pusher. His taunt has always been part of his kit..but its always been TOO MUCH a part of his kit. Just get rid of it and make him better at what he is supposed to be doing.
