Why isn't Cho'Gath top played more?

He has sustain, ez csing, can win aa trades easily, tons of damage with tank items, and lots of cc.

Is it because of %max hp damage? I haven't lost lane as Cho yet, however I have lost several games in which the enemy vayne, got fed (rip true damage).

Also, it is required when you get max stacks to say Maximum Cho'Gath in all chat and buy item 2138

Cho lacks mobility. People hate playing immobile champions.

Cho is only good is you don't die. People are pretty bad at staying safe.

Cho also has a Gnar problem. You can solve this by banning, but you can't get into Cho versus Gnar lane.

I think he's a strong champion for solo queue though. Just terrifying as a teleporter, and he becomes a really big problem in late game.

I despise Gnar against any melee champ. But true.

Most mana mids buy item 3165 which counters heal champions in general. Also if you miss your abilities you are going to run out of mana quickly. However, this doesn't matter in low elo because enemies don't know how to dodge. I think cho is a really strong champion but don't bring it up or riot will nerf.

I don't generally spam abilities until I have at least catalyst, also if you practice aiming your q's enough you can land 80%+ of them.

In general you could say he is overloaded but with no mobility, which makes him good for solo que. I remember going full ap cho in silver and being 15-1. He has extremely high ratios so there is no reason to do it if your team needs more damage.

Cho'Gath's big problem is what happens in the post laning phase. That's the largest reason he's not seen in the professional scene, and since pros don't play him people don't play him. Luckily solo queue is the perfect place for his type of champion.

He's immobile. With last season and this one the meta revolving around mobility, Cho simply doesn't get picked. He's strong though, especially against dive comps. Being able to drop heavy CC right on top of people before munching on their face is always useful. And his pushing power is always good for shoving lane to take a turret.
