I think Kha'Zix suffers an identity crisis and I think noone has said it yet

How did I come to that conclusion?

Out of all these champions League has, he is still (after ~3.5 years) the only champion I fail to actually grasp from a kit and overall playstyle perspective. Important to mention that I'm a mastery 7 Nidalee and I think these two playstyles are very similar, which is one of the reasons I'm so confused about that thing. I also tried playing him (and I have actually very good winrate with Kha'Zix support - I bought him because of that beautiful Death Blossom skin and I wanted to have at least something to admire when I'm autofilled) and I was not doing bad in most cases. But the bitterness of that kit still stays.

There are many champions with similar kits: Previously mentioned Nidalee, Nocturne, Akali and the most similar being Rengar (which does all the exact same stuff as Kha, but differently). They are a Diver/Assassin hybrids (Nidalee excluded as she's more like Assassin/Mage) and for most of them it was a balancing problem (Kha'Zix included), but I don't have a problem to grasp playstyle of neither of these. Why so, I was thinking, until I came to the conclusion: He's the one the most in the middle and exactly there. While Nidalee and Akali are closer to the Assassin part (get in, kill primary target, get out), Rengar and Nocturne are more of Divers (jump in and stay because of escape lacking while dealing damage over time). Of course I count with an ideal scenario because the hybridy allows all of them to fulfill both parts when fed. But Kha'Zix? He is either overtuned and is able to perform great at both tasks (in-fight sustain and survivability from W and R, in-and-out with E reset, Q being the only ability with primary intention to deal damage makes it either an undewhelming assassination ability or oppressive DPS ability) when viable or fails at both tasks when unviable.
How to fix him?
Honestly? I have no idea. It's very hard to take off and add parts to a generalistic kit, especiall when I don't understant it as whole and I'm not even a frequent player. This is also one think I hope will come out of this thread: Are there Kha'Zix mains able to tell me what is it they are looking for when picking up Kha'Zix? Or contradict my opinions and explain why he's in their opinion ok design-wise? I would really appreciate that, if only because of Death Blosson skin. Thank you.
