Did you guys really think this devourer would be ok?

I mean it came out and you paired it with Xin and Shy nerfs because they were too strong with it. Did you guys even test it on Jax, Vayne, Gnar, Aatrox, etc?

Might be broken in low elo where people don't quite know how to play Summoner's Rift (it's more along the lines of ARAM in silver and below) but it's definitely not broken. It's annoying to some, like myself, who really don't particularly care for the play style that it encourages but it's definitely easy to counter play and not "broken."

Xin Zhao, for example, is my main jungler (currently have a 72% win rate through 40 games on him in Platinum) and a lot of people think that it's broken on him but the reality is that Xin's strength lies in his early ganking power and is wasted on powerfarming. The old devourer was a noob trap on him and the new one, while better, is still kind of eh in an elo where people know how to teamfight and also know how to counterplay a powerfarming jungler. I did play it for two games in normals just to YOLO around though.

I guarantee you that once this patch hits the competitive scene you still won't be seeing devourer.

If you're having difficulties against it, I'd suggest looking online for some resources on learning on how to close games out and capitalize on early advantages, snowballing, and so forth. It can definitely be frustrating to play against but a late game Master Yi was frustrating before to a team that didn't have crowd control, just as a free farmed Nasus was/is frustrating, just as Tryndamere can be, Annie, and countless other champions in the right hands :)

ETA: Next time you see the enemy pick a devourer jungler, play Shaco or Eve, rush mobi's after the 450 machete upgrade, spam ganks and enjoy the freelo.

You and people like you who keep saying it's only broken in low ELO are the problem. The fact of the matter is that lower ELO makes up the vast majority of the League community, so if an item is destroying the vast majority of the user base's gaming experience, it should be fixed. The game cannot be tailored to the highly skilled because then you'd never have a player base to begin with.

You can't really balance the game around people who don't know how to play it. In many cases, legitimate counterplay exists but lower ELO players simply don't know about it or how it's done.

On the same note, you can't simply balance the game around high elo either. If it's too hard, people won't play. If new people stop playing, the game will die. If the game dies, what does your elo matter?

So far during this patch, not a single devourer jungler has made the top 10 win rates in Bronze or Silver. The only elo's where one has made the top ten for the week are Diamond and Masters, in which that champion is Warwick. Guess it's not that broken in low elo, eh?

I was simply presenting a counter-argument to the one who said it's only broken in low elo. Perhaps you should have replied to them instead of me - they said it's because low elo players are basically too dumb to counter it, so I was countering the argument. I agree that higher elo players have the coordination to better help their junglers get full stacks.

Early game, maybe. But if they are allowed to get their stacks, they can then abuse on-hit items as well as abilities. I've seen a friend in mid-plat play as Yi, and he only built Sated and BotRK and then went full tank and still shredded towers and tanks alike.

imo it's really good on irelia jungle and evelynn, too bad eve is given away when invisible until it becomes sated. I think it might be good on udyr too but i didnt really notice a difference from usual when going tiger stance

I'm not saying it's broken from enemies using it, I'm saying it's broken from using it myself. Imagine a Vayne with this and bork, proccing her level 5 W along with 3 bork taps every two shots. Once she gets some more attack speed, she can melt absolutely anyone in extremely short windows of time.

She doesn't have to jungle to use it, lane smite isn't totally useless, and you only have to auto a camp one time and move on to get a stack.

Of course devourer sucks on tiger stance, whats the point? The high damage proc only procs on the first hit of tiger stance and never again until reused. Phoenix is only way it would be good and I don't even like playing that it's just kinda dumb.

Had some kid argue with me about how devourer was so much better on tiger than warrior lol. Was sad.

doesnt tiger make your autos do more damage as on hit effect ?

i know that the first hit does damage ower time ... but wasnt there an on hit effect on every other hit that could be activated by dewourer twice ? just like yi's true damage

There are two things wrong with that statement:

Sated Devourer doesn't affect the DoT from Tiger Stance at all. Like Sheen or Jax's Empowered, the DoT will be consumed on the first autoattack and not be available for the second autoattack.
While in Tiger Stance, each autoattack deals 15% of Udyr's AD as on-hit physical damage. This is what Sated Devourer would double.

I don't play Tiger Udyr so I don't know which is better, but if you are going to argue you should at least get the facts rights.

I wasn't arguing that Devourer was a good item for Tiger Udyr. I was pointing out that the arguments you used to "prove" it was horrible were invalid and factually incorrect at the most basic level (i.e. you didn't even know that the DoT wasn't affected by Devourer and that Tiger Stance gave him on-hit damage).

I clearly stated in every comment I made that the DoT isn't affected, and whoop dee doo with Triforce + Botrk your ON HITS in tiger do a BONUS.. wait for it.. 31 DAMAGE! Yes nerf Aatrox even more into the ground xD Btw xin gets his old ap ratio back next patch. Chill man people just ned to find out how to win before devourer is stacked. These devourer champs need to afk jungle the first 20 minutes. Try to control their jungle and dragon and pressure lanes to get your team ahead. The devourer champs arent unkillable too, they often go for botrk that does npt help when they get focused in teamfights.
