I am looking forward to the tank updates in competitive play

Just imagine all the new moments that will arise from this

Maokai catching stragglers with saplings placed in advance as mines, getting off massive flanks with his ultimate, or absolutely wrecking a Cassiopeia by making the most of his passive, a spirit visage, and an adaptive helm.

Zac Doing his usual awesome things, but now with even more goo! Fast revives are going to make him even more impactful later, and his ultimate is cool as hell (especially if combo'd with a Rumble ult and Nami bubble waiting at the final destination)

Sejuani seeing the rise of burly melee comps going absolutely HAM. Braum+Sej would be absolutely nasty and I love it. Hell, I'd not be surprised to see her paired with Renekton, Yi, Tryndamere, or Mordekaiser.

I'd be surprised to see her paired with Yi or Tryn in Pro Play lol.

On a regular basis? Yeah, not too likely.

As a one off thing? Quite possibly. You'd be amazed how valuable surprise is.

Sejuani in her current PBE state will never see competitive play. She's too weak early. You can just take Lee Sin VS her and shut her out of the game completely.

Uh, no.

Her early game isn't great, but its good enough to survive if played properly.

Late game, anyone hit by your melees gets your E. That's a 2 second stun and 25% of their max HP if Sej can auto them.

Oh, and that's just one spell.

Her passive makes any upfront damage (as well as any slows they would kite you with) completely useless.

Her Q is as good a spell as always.

Her W is complete shit early game, but actually does a decent amount to squishies later in the game because of its health ratio.

Her R isn't as teamfight winning as it once was, but it's still amazing.

Vs Lee Sin, Elise or Kha'zix played by a pro, no, it's not. She'll just end up being gold sacks for an enemy team, she's slow, she loses a ton of HP to the jungle and her pathing is super rigid and predictable. I think she's far less likely to see competitive play than someone like Maokai who's quicker than her and doesn't really lose HP to the jungle. The reward for getting Sej though isn't enough over Maokai to justify it.

Her passive makes any upfront damage (as well as any slows they would kite you with) completely useless.

Competitive teams won't have trouble poking this down with things like Ez Q and Lucian W. It's easier to hit Sejuani than it would be Malzahar too, since she's always going to have to be a lot further forward than Malz.

I think Sej's passive is a perfect example of people swooning over big numbers without thinking about how the ability actually works. You'd have to misplay to let Sejuani on top of you with the shield, and competitive teams just won't misplay often enough for that to be valuble.

With 4000 HP it deals 500 physical damage. That's not even denting a carry. After armour you'll deal maybe 300 damage. Who gives a fuck. Her old W at 4000 HP would deal 640 magic damage with just the spin effect. Sej's W on the PBE is shit all game.

Yes, but what tank jungler DOES live when invaded by any of those duelist early game monstrosities ? But yes, Sej seems to be even weaker now in personal damage, and will need it all the more now that her ulti is much weaker (or at least, more conditional in its CC).

That would be why you don't see tank junglers right now.

Sej on the PBE at current though would be even weaker in this regard than any tank jungle on this patch. I think after Riot implements the next set of planned changes she'll probably be a lot better though, if not a little too good in this regard.

Sejuani ruining competitive and then soloQ is more likely

Maokai kinda wish his saplings were a charge system now that he's more inclined to use them for setting up

Maybe I'm just too old, but I don't ever look forward to anything Riot does. Everything they add always comes at the cost of something else, like an evil genie. You never just get your wish with Riot Games, there's always a catch, even if you don't notice it right away.
