let me see who is pinging my items.

its annoying and toxic, i wanna know who it is so I know who to mute and report after the game is over. makes no sense why you guys even removed that, its like you're empowering this cancerous behavior. i remember it was a thing when pinging items first came out, it showed who was pinging, and which item. now its just the item. is this some cowardly way of forcing meta by expecting an entire team to be on board against one persons buy?

Up-vote and in before the "They have a right to ping" blah blah blah people come on.

Why even pay attention though? So they're pinging your items; who cares? Pinging someone's item doesn't automatically mean it's for a toxic reason. Take me for example; I play Lux with glaicial augment (cause it's super fun) and I've only had one person out of all the games I've played with it really complain about it, which they proceeded to shut up once late game came and I had my items. Everyone else who pinged it was just curious, and I explained to them why I took it; problem solved.

Denims Wrath6661 votes

dude, its every game i get this shit. its not curiosity, its toxic. after you spam the same item 5 times, every 5 minutes, of every game, it is no longer a cute jab, its actually making me angry. and before you say "oh just mute them" DO YOU SEE THE PROBLEM WITH THAT? that means i gotta mute my entire team over some ass hat. i just report my entire team after just to save myself the trouble. this is basically protecting trolls.

I do, it's distracting, and not knowing who keeps ping spamming my stuff doesn't allow me to issue the correct ping mute. Ergo I might mute some one who is useful with their pings, degrading my win chance.

Good. I've had an afk once, I won the game still. So we can remove the penalty for AFK because in the end it all went well. What? You have afk's and lose your game and want to dissuade this behaviour? But in my example there wasn't a problem so you can't have a problem!

and I explained to them why I took it; problem solved.

I don't always have the time and patience to explain choices I make.

You're argueing against a problem not existing, and then continue to assume it does, only to tell us that the solution should come from the guy being targetting, HE should diffuse the situation because some one else is causing a (distracting) ruckus. What is that line of reasoning / thought? ( I would call it victim blaming, but that term gives me a kneejerk reaction that could kick a baby into orbit)

Why should you not be allowed to know who pings your stuff when on a bunch of other things it does tell you? It's just for easy use of muting. I don't even care about reporting.

Final Spark Lux1 votes

You're putting words in my mouth. I never said there wasn't a problem. I merely gave a potential solution. I'm not sure why they removed the ability to see who pinged it, but 9 times out of 10, the person who is pinging goes on to talk about you / it, in which case you should mute them. Regardless, most rational people don't get so angry over something so minor in a game. I can see it being upsetting if they're trash talking you, but pinging an item without saying anything else?

Pings are all you need to communicate anyways. If it's a problem, mute everyone. A lot of people don't bother talking in the first place. This persons reasoning is "I don't want to mute my whole team because someone is pinging", but then turns around and claims to instead report everyone after the game for the sake of ensuring they report whoever was pinging. Pinging isn't a punishable offense, and flooding the system with a bunch of false reports isn't going to make matters better either.

Denims Wrath6661 votes

this isn't false reporting, this is reporting toxic behavior. seriously, if someone asks me specifically, "why that item?" i will explain briefly, but 9/10 times is actually someone being toxic.

Final Spark Lux1 votes

Someone can ask a question. There is nothing toxic about asking "Why that item?". I ask people why they do things all the time because I don't know any better. I'm a support player and play Lux 99% of the time; I know nothing when it comes to building on non-support related things. How else is someone to learn the reasoning behind something if they don't ask why? There needs to be legitimate toxicity for it to be considered toxic. Asking a question politely isn't considered toxic. If they give you a bunch of flack for it, sure, report away, but reporting someone for using an in game ping or asking a why question doesn't inherently make it toxic.

because pinging 5 times on the same item IS TOXIC.

Final Spark Lux1 votes

It really isn't. Pinging an item just says the items name in chat. That isn't toxic. At the rate people are claiming things are toxic, it's only a matter of time before all pings are removed, chat is permanently disabled, emotes disabled, dance / laugh / taunt / joke is disabled, walking ontop of an enemy or walking in circles is disabled, etc. If you think someone pinging an item is toxic, I suggest you mute all pings, because that's about the extent of what you can do. Pinging someone's items isn't toxic. It's a game; people need to stop trying to find things to complain about and enjoy the game.

Denims Wrath6661 votes

this isn't me looking for something to complain about? this is something thats genuinely ruining my experience like every game. lol, keep the sjw outta this, realize this post is about toxic behavior.

Final Spark Lux1 votes

You have the means to stop them from pinging, but you aren't willing to use said means. You're entitled to have the opinion that pings are toxic. If they're are genuinely ruining the experience for you, take the initiative and mute or ping mute them. There's no excuse not to if that's what's causing you so much distress in games.

Denims Wrath6661 votes

? are you even paying attention? I shouldnt have to mute my entire team because of one person being toxic and cowardly.

That's because people that ping once are not toxic, but people that ping 5 or more times ARE.

Stop asking for more restrictions.

weird, maybe you should look up what restriction means

Sometimes pinging isnt actually flaming, i responded defensively when someone pinged my starting item twice and he was just curious. But leagues community is so passive aggressive and hostile to build paths or picks they dont know you interprete everything as aggressive. But yes usually it IS the same as the ? ping.

I get item pings over starting item 1006 item 2031 item 1006 on Sion but I see a high rank Shen streamer is playing with item 1006 item 1006item 2003 . I just get it in magic damage matchups where i'm only intending to farm, im 150 g closer to item 3194 with this start.

Are you 12? Maybe the internet isn't for you if you think this is toxic.

Lunar Lunacy1 votes

There's actually a little button, if you hit tab and look next to their names, which allows you to mute pings.

You could either mute your full team's pings, or whoever you believe is the most likely culprit.

Complaining about it in chat will probably just make other players start pinging your items too just for luls.

Denims Wrath6662 votes

shouldnt have to mute my entire team over one person being toxic
