I Am Very Happy That Essence Reaver Got Reverted

However...

If it is meant to be a potential starting item for caster adcs, why is the AD so low in comparison to Infinity Edge?

I could understand it maybe being 70 ad bc one could argue that ER gives you a better early game since spells tend to be stronger than autos early, but a 20 ad difference is a bit much and puts most champs in a situation where they probably won't build it.

Also, the mana regen on it feels terrible compared to all past iterations of ER, even the first one.

1.5% missing mana sucks ass.

Revert it back to 3% maximum mana when you critically strike.

It's far too weak. It needs more AD or less gold cost, or both. Just really weak compared to IE.

technically not a full revert as well on the CDR department

old ER gave 10CDR upfront and up to 30% in total if you had more crit chance.

this new one just has an instant flat 20% cdr which I can only assume is where they've alocated it's power budget.

The Old Essense Reaver (the 8.10 one), had 70 AD. While Infinity Edge (also 8.10) had 70 AD.

Now with Infinity Edge having 80 ad,. and Essense Reaver having 60 ad, that is a significant amount less AD for the same cost... I can't don't see how this Essense Reaver is equal this this Infinity Edge.

That's why I'm saying it's too weak compared to Infinity Edge. They can lower the gold, or raise the damage.. Otherwise there is little reason to ever buy it.

It at least needs to go back to "% of maximum mana" instead of missing mana, or double the missing mana %.

Dude.. 60 AD AND 20% CDR, that's very solid. If anything it shouldn't have crit chance, as it doesn't fit AD casters. It should have slightly better mana-vamp without the need of crit-striking.

Frankly what I don't understand is why there isn't a mini version of the mana regen

Its supposed to be for champions who want to spam spells but still have access to AD and Crit right? Then why is it that Ezreal or Corki never wants this thing? Oh right, Tear of the Goddess does this job much better.

Frankly unless you're a character with mild mana problems if you spam but still want CDR that's the only reason you actually buy it. Xayah and Sivir can make some use of it but typically just get Stormrazor or something with a real powerspike. Like even if the final item needs buffed, Essence Reaver is always going to be extremely situational unless it actually solves mana problems early on in the game. Just make some kind of 1200-1500 GP component that gives a mini version of the mana passive, that build path change alone would help the item get bought more.

Maybe instead to push it more towards its niche it could have a new passive added that increases spell damage by 10%.

It feels kinda bad to have way lower AD, but the tools that ER grants access to somewhat balance things our. IE gives raw power in its stats, but ER gives access to quicker ability use, which is important for spell sling ADCs like Xayah and Sivir. Being able to use Siv Q or Xayah E more often balances out the raw damage of IE rushers (Cait, Trist) vs spell slinging ADCs (Siv, Xayah, Lucian). Its not a perfect balance, sure, but IE inherently should be a bit stronger in terms of raw stats
