How do I find a main champion?

Hello, so I am level 30 and I really don't have a champion to "main" and really take me up to higher ELOs. I play a rather large variety of champs which I understand is good because you are good at all roles and can really fill whatever is needed, but I really feel like I need someone to truly master and just be great with. I am rather good at the game and I am good at picking champions up so I don't do bad since I don't have a main, but its tough when a friend wants to 1v1 or I do ranked because there is no one champion to really rely on. I also have trouble finding someone that is really fun. I have played people like Zed, Rammus, Talon, or Rengar a decent amount but they just feel bland after a while because you can only get so good at them. I don't even have a champ with a level 5 mastery yet. I need a champion with a really high skill cap so you can always learn and improve with them and just never get bored with them. Someone that carries games or just instakill someone for a good laugh. Someone that is unique and you can always improve on to keep things interesting. What I am really looking for is a fun champion that you can just spam and always enjoy, even through the worst of losses. One of my problems is losing a game as a champ and losing all confidence causing me to drop them. It doesn't really matter how good they are right now they just need to be fun and someone you can always improve on. Thanks in advanced :)

To answer your question without saying "Play this champion," back in season 3-4 i mained wukong, and garen. They are both champions that can bring a lot to the table, and aren't that hard to master mechanically. Obviously you don't want to start out ranking with a main such as Lux or Brand because they rely heavily on skill shots. But i can say that it doesn't matter what your "mastery level" is or how high of a "skill cap" the champion has, because the skill and usefulness of a champion is limited only by the individual playing the champion. I main Zed and Fizz at the moment, and i have a large amount of games played with them. Some days they're the only champion i end up playing. The problem with getting "bored" of a champion can be countered by always trying to learn something new with the champion you choose. When i picked up Zed, i watched bjergsen and faker play him for a week and practiced in normals until i could duplicate the combo's and mechanic's they used. I'm fairly confident with my zed pick in solo que because i have a vast understanding of the champion and match up against him. If you find yourself wanting to pick a different champion in ranked don't be afraid, BUT the point of having a main is to have that GO TO if you want to win. There may be a "skill cap" labeled on a champion, but there's no cap on how good YOU can play that champion. Hopefully that helps.

Great writing kind sir. I don't think I know what I really want in a champion. I thought I liked the super mobile burst which I enjoy, but usually they are linear and the same over and over. I just have a thought time finding the one that fits me and I really enjoy because I really don't know what I want in a champion.

Try out different champions in normal games, and try to pick up their mechanics from common guides. Eventually you'll find the one you mesh with :)

Try Ekko. He is a champion of endless possibilities and endless tricks.

I have him he just never really fit me. I don't know what it was about him I could just never get into him.

My main champion is the one I wanted to play first when I sat down to play league of legends.

For me that was Malphite but I dropped him after a bit lol.

Yasuo

Really if you want a main, you need to find it yourself. You gotta try every champion until one just clicks with you. Only you can decide what your main is.

Yasuo has always been pretty fun, he has been one I will kinda go in phases with, but him and Diana seem to be my two big ones.

  1. Zed should never feel like a bland champion and has one of the highest skill ceilings there is

  2. Find a champion that you think is fun and can stand to play over and over again and main that champion. It doesn't matter who it is and you can climb to pretty much mid diamond by being an expert at a certain champion.

The trouble is finding that champion that is fun

For me, I had to answer questions about champions to help me find the one I wanted.

Criteria:

What role do you like the best?

Is the champion fun to play?

Do they synergize well with others?

Is their outplay potential in their kit?

Are their kits exciting?

Can they carry?

At a high level of play, do they increase your chances of winning?

I answered all those questions and found a champions I really clicked with. Syndra To me, shes just really fun and enjoyable to play. I like that I am always still learning and that I can always get better at her.
