Dealing with a ranged top lane.

I'll start with the statement I FUCKING DESPISE RANGED TOP LANES BECAUSE THEY HAVE A HUGE ADVANTAGE. I despise these lanes so much, I try to avoid laning in general and main Jungle.

Now, the most effective way to win a ranged top lane is to play passive. Most ranged champions do not get much of a power spike at level 6... Ryze Gnar Quinn Teemo This makes sense because they're stronger earlier. However, many META top lane melees do have HUGE power spikes at level 6 Tryndamere MonkeyKing Riven Malphite Hecarim Chogath Darius Garen

So what you wanna do is play passive. If the enemy doesn't back more than once, you'll be very close on levels of power (if not ahead) when you both are level 6+. REMEBER, 20 CS UP MEANS NOTHING UNTIL THEY BACK AND HAVE 20 CS WORTH OF GOLD IN THEIR BUILD. Play passive until you reach your power spikes, if you get a kill, shove the lane and back and sprint your fat ass back to lane.

This is how I, personally, approach ranged vs melee top lanes and I realize that it's not as simple as this everytime. Just remember my saying "Play smarter not harder".

First off, why isn't Jayce in that list?

And why is Hecarim in the bottom list?

But remember, you'll be poked down to half health by the time you hit 6... if you never back. So... an engage is likely to get yourself killed.

If you _do _back, however, it gives your opponent a chance to shove the wave and make you miss more cs, as well as a chance to use that 20 cs lead.

So... you really wanna engage on that Gnar when you're a half health Darius? Because you will be shit on, no joke.
