Played a game against a plat player.

Wow let me just start out with mad respects to the dude. The hard MMR reset (i didn't know about it when the game happened) has given me a new light in my League experience.

I'd consider myself a mechanically and strategically skilled player compared to many people at around Silver I and down (not meaning to sound douchey but I think I could have struggled to Gold V if I had played more ranked in the later half of the season). However, seeing a Plat III Wukong jungle absolutely outplay me in the strategy game (knowing where I would be and what buffs I wasn't going to be capable of contesting) was so refreshing. It gave me this new look at how much better I can still get. I really enjoyed playing against people of higher skill and think that I learned more from that game with one Plat III player than I have in 30 games of playing with people that I have to carry.

This is a great attitude to have. Respect for that my dude!

I wish that everyone who played league thought this way when they lost to something/someone rather than just getting toxic. Being tilted is fine if you feel/know you can do better, but as soon as you start making other people pay or start flaming them for no reason, then it gets out of hand. There's always something new to learn when you play any game of league. Props to you man.

We all wanted a hard reset of MMR so stop compl...

Oh... This is awkward...

Weathered11/14/2016, 8:20:34 PM9 votes

Holy shit man, you don't know the half of it. My normal mmr got up to around 1750 (but I'm plat), so I get to be in a game every once in a while with a masters+. Its insane sometimes what happens in those games. Rengar fucking Q's out of J4 ult (since it moves you forward), predict flashes in the middle of the lane where the enemy Ivern puts a bush and jumps the ADC. I shit you not this guy predicted where the Ivern would bush.

Honestly that's why I love playing against higher level players and why next season is going to be my first real step into ranked. I play mostly normals and always have since I normally play this game for a month, quit, and come back a few months later. I've been playing this game consistently for about 5 months now and I'm finally ready to improve instead of stagnating my skill in normals. Playing a game against a high plat Graves main made me realise how much I need to improve, I consider myself to be a good Vi but he honestly just destroyed me simple as that.

Good luck to you in the next ranked season.

Kingdom Corn11/15/2016, 2:30:45 AM3 votes

The mmr reset just makes no sense. https://i.gyazo.com/0e2ba85cfd261051db53a02b414f2389.png EDit: Not saying I hate the mmr reset I am FINE with it. In my opinion you are not going to improve playing against same people that have the same rank as you or lower, you only get better by playing with and against people that are better. You watch them play and you learn what to do, what to build, what to max, what to do and when. But playing a game where there are 5 bronze 5s on each team is just a clown fiesta and you don't learn shit from that.

Lord Galvatron11/15/2016, 1:47:35 PM3 votes

This MMR reset is sooooo annoying. Either you are with complete morons or you get matched up with Challengers.

wiggywonka11/14/2016, 6:16:15 PM3 votes

Too bad I rek other jungler/laner but my other teammates still feed their asses off

Mokkun11/14/2016, 9:37:59 PM3 votes

Strategy is definitely something you can learn from playing vs people much better than you. You get to feel the effect of better decision making and game sense first-hand.

Mechanics is a little harder unless they just do something you didn't know was possible. My personal experience when I get high diamonds or masters in my normals is the realization that even full-timing this game, I'm never going to be that good mechanically. I simply don't have that level of reaction speed anymore, and haven't since I was in high school.

I've laned twice against plats (S1 last season) now. I've won both those lanes. I feel great about it, I never doubted my laning ability. But we ended up losing both games, even though they were hard fought. The enemy team would actually follow their plat player, who knew where to be, to take towers, to push objectives. While my team wouldn't follow commands to defend or trade objectives. They never worked together. It just makes me sad.

TheMinez11/14/2016, 9:54:06 PM2 votes

I am a gold 1 jungler and when I was solo in Flex Que I was beaten by a bronze 2 Master Yi jungle. I went 9/5/13. My gold 3 top laner went 18/5/5. My silver 4 and 5 bot lane went 6/19/17. (Combined support and ADC) My silver 5 mid laner went 5/13/11.

A couple of my kills are where I outplayed the fed Kat and Jinx. I don't think that it is the system's fault, it just needs to let enough games roll in to see who is consistently carrying and who is consistently getting carried/feeding. I learned much more in a 20 min game in my (failed) climb to plat than I did in that 40 minute game where it was a 2v8.

Personally I would prefer a sort of "Mentor" que where people in gold+ play with people in bronze and silver, with 1 mentor/team. My friend put it this way, "I prefer to lose hard than to draw out a loss a long time because of the incompetence of both my teammates and the enemies."

LightIsMyPath11/15/2016, 9:38:21 PM2 votes

Had a plat 3 Ahri as my enemy midlaner during placements. I had to spit blood for every cs i dared to take, holy that was a hell. I loved her... my jung was premade so he babysitted me heavily.. guess what, as soon as he ganked another lane she engaged and killed me as 0/5 with me being 4/0/1... I'll never be so good :c

Bladerunner777711/15/2016, 5:32:49 PM2 votes

I'm a diamond support main but I never play support in normals, so I always get bullied and accused of being "boosted" :^(

AninLegions77711/15/2016, 6:33:59 PM1 votes

I feel you man. The beginning of this season, I started playing tournaments for the Ryze skin. I would get placed vs. A team full of Diamonds/Masters/Rarely challengers (Was D5 at the time). You can learn a lot from one player but when they are 5? LOOOL. I can't even be mad. They play so well and I learnt so much from them. My team usually goes "FF@20" but I stall to learn more. High elo is awesome if you're ready to learn.

Feed Daddy11/15/2016, 8:00:33 PM1 votes

Plats arent good lol

SarcasticShepard11/15/2016, 10:31:07 PM1 votes

I don't mid seeing higher tier players, but I draw the line at getting crushed into the ground. You don't learn anything from overwhelming defeat, after all.

Vistha11/15/2016, 11:43:48 PM1 votes

The hard MMR reset

Stop right there.

There was no "reset", because the Flex queue had the "factory" settings.

Solo/duo queue is going to be the subject to a soft MMR reset.

Wolf Queen11/15/2016, 11:49:50 PM1 votes

He out played you cause your just a "good khazix" see if you were an ALWAYS khazix you wouldve won ;)

feryvunny11/16/2016, 1:21:40 AM1 votes

I get the same feeling when I see D1 - Masters in action. Though I have noticed quite a skill gap between just D1 and Master players. They just do stuff and make plays that normally plat or lower don't even consider. I'm focusing on the game, but in my head I'm like "jesus this guy (these guys) is on a whole different level than me"

Going up against it is overwhelming but also a learning experience. Having it on your team is just like wow I need to stop being such a pussy sometimes. I also need to stop tilting myself or giving up on the match even though we're behind 6 towers #-dragons ##-kills etc.

On another note I see in challenger streamers they don't usually give a shit when someone on their team dies or gets solo killed. When I think back on my own behavior I tend to learn towards micro-managing teammates or I begin to get upset when a lane dies a couple times. It's definitely a bad habit and contributes to losses

FingerFlavored11/16/2016, 7:08:53 PM1 votes

if i was on my main account fighting higher MMR isn't an issue, because i am trying to climb as fast as i can.

Problem i had when grinding 5 accounts to gold was facing 1-3 plat players when my whole team is silver or unranked when i am in my gold 5 promo's....

I am trying to get into gold 5, Not Plat.

Sylvant11/16/2016, 7:41:05 PM1 votes

this also works the other way around. As a plat player, playing in the lowest brackets reminded me how much worse players there are and the games i was complaining about are perfect compared to how bad it can be

PhDs Nuts11/16/2016, 9:35:56 PM1 votes

Most threads after a game like that would be complaining and begging for Wukong nerfs. Props to the OP.

Roxy Moo11/14/2016, 11:12:09 PM1 votes

I love this look on things.

DunkinNoobs11/14/2016, 11:43:08 PM1 votes

That's how I feel playing against D1+ players. I feel like I'm doing pretty good, and then I lane against Pobelter or some shit in Flex Q and get completely destroyed. It's unreal just how mechanically tight those players are and the pressure they put on you at all times is insane.

Spice POWAH11/15/2016, 12:30:13 AM1 votes

I once had the extreme luck to have a challenger jungler in one of my norms games.

By the end of it, I probably ended up supporting her more than my carry...

(I really wanted that level 7 emote)

chubs122411/15/2016, 12:41:06 AM1 votes

As a bronze 1 this preseason playing with some silver and gold players is very difficult but enjoyable. When I play as khazix it is usually easy to take almost every drake and to counter jungle my enemies into oblivion. However the gold level players understood my objectives and could actually contest them.

invisiblecat111/15/2016, 1:46:22 AM1 votes

Wow someone in bronze/silver learned from playing against someone higher ranked than them rather than complaing about matchmaking better nerf Irelia better nerf kassadin No one has ever done that in the history of dota four and it was k the meme list goes on

it's cool until you find out that 70% of upper tier people are asshats...

FCJAAAAGOOOO11/15/2016, 2:35:17 AM1 votes

That'd be cool if matchmaking had like, two plat/diamonds and three silver/golds together in the same team on both sides. Would make for generally nuttier games.

Tannhäuser Gate11/15/2016, 3:16:29 AM1 votes

I am a low plat shitter, but you can add me and I will coach you to gold, or even plat.

DemonikSoul11/15/2016, 4:08:46 AM1 votes

imagine what will be when u actually can beat these players :P

Electric Buyers11/15/2016, 8:55:49 AM1 votes

The trick is finding people like that to play against who don't flame you all game for being bad.

Gusdel11/15/2016, 2:21:08 PM1 votes

Yeah idk wtf is going on. My last few games have been complete stomps. It is so bad it isn't funny. This is very unenjoyable. I have never said I don't belong on bronze because I do. Why must I get games that will make me toxic? I had a platinum player against my team. Also the teams seemed very unbalanced. The game should at least balance the teams off previous MMR or something. This is just a screw you to low elo players. We won't learn how to play when we don't what to do when every move every gold we spend and anything we is just do it perfect or get punished so had you lose every lane on bad gank or going for dragon leads to enemy ace.

WinTheWarOnPants11/15/2016, 3:35:19 PM1 votes

i keep hearing about this reset, but what happened exactly?
