Juggernauts

Everyone keeps talking about bruisers, broken champions like Yasuo, mages, and ADCs. But really, where do juggernauts even fit into League of Legends anymore? I mean sure we have Yorick with his buffs and Aatrox still seeing competitive play even after being gutted, but it begs the question about all the others. They're not very popular in competitive play or high elo because they're too easy to deal with. Their class design or fantasy is after all, to be hulking badasses that can tank a good bit of damage and dish it out at the expense of mobility. The problem is that damage overall is high at the moment, mobility is at an all-time high, and kiting is easier than ever.

I'm having trouble finding a solution to the issue here because most of these juggernauts are kinda "old" world style champions too. They're not the given the bells and whistles like most new champions. They're stuck with very simplistic kits that gate their potential. Their build paths are also pretty static, with a few different pickups depending on matchups. As someone who primarily plays them, I just feel like I'm playing an outdated champion sometimes. Yeah, I might win lane, maybe bully a weaker lane opponent, and get a few solokills but these champions can't really pop off like a bruiser could. They can be relevant and highly influential in a game, but they don't carry as hard unless they stomp lane and even then they're basically on a timer until they fall off.

I'm really just expressing concerns here about a champion class. But even Nasus' completely unnecessary Q buffs seems to suggest that Riot is at just as much at a loss as to how to make them relevant. Yorick's maiden buffs are powerful but they don't solve the core problem with him being a terrible teamfighter. And while Aatrox is "technically" a juggernaut, he's a bit too mobile to fit the bill IMO.

riot won't admit that compensating weak kits with ridiculous numbers doesn't create a strong champion, just a low elo pubstomp

juggernaut kits need higher utility and/or CC if they're going to survive as a group

I honestly haven't seen a Aatrox in the pro games i've watched, the only region I know who won't let the pick die it's overdue death is Korea.

I agree, Darius is arguably a shit show to play, the damage in league is oppressively high from all rolls and even more so from darius.

In season 6-7 i played top darius and shredded solo que with ~70% winrate up to gold 5 before i stopped playing ranked.

But the problem wasnt i didnt have a ranked drive, I just couldnt deal with the stress of playing darius anymore, I need to kick the shit out of my laner and basically kick them out of the game to carry my team.

and the 30% of lost games?

10% fighting quinn 20% bot got fed

If the adc was fed, even the high silver players could auto and walk away with relative ease, they didnt need to kite properly, they just needed to exist to stop me.

I would have :

21 ad runes w start fervor of battle triforce rush

I kinda pioneered todays build except i built:

Triforce-DeathsDance-Steraks

in a decent game. if not i would go the usual triforce tank build.

But the stress of needing to dominate lane, manipulate waves, win 2v1 ganks, take towers and solo macro every game was so unfairly intense.

This was around the time damage started to get out of hand too,

I took these runes so i could destroy the lane, even when i was fed and had my tank build i would die in 3 seconds or less if i was being hit by the jungle/ top and mid at the same time.

(And considering i would be around 6/0- 6/1 at this point thats kinda stupid)

To just say,

I hate how much damage is in the game, i hate being killed at lvl 3 from full health mid because the mid did that same ability spam combo rotation every mid does.

I hate being 1v1'd by yorick r or just being one shot by a toplaner or "top lane" mage.

I hate being ran at by the enemy support bot because they have self sustain and insane lane damage.

I hate being instakilled by the enemy jungle because things like xin zhao exist.

I hate hate brand, zyra, ezreal, zilean, yorick, and the list goes on. I feel like the game is genuinely less fun when these champs are picked.

Juggernauts? And you pose for example 2 relatively good champions? Yorick with his high creep damage, tank shreding ultimate and pushing abilities and aatrox with his high q damage and healing? God damnit.

What happened to Trundle Mordekaiser (morde is a ap bruiser but close enough since he USED to be played like a juggernaut) Garen Volibear (toplane)??? Especially to garen, all of them forgotten and riot won't even do something about em in any lane.

The easiest fix is to buff defensive itemization and scaling, this way they can actually live long enough to deal their damage.

Ranged vs melee lanes wouldn't be such an issue if counterbuilding was more effective. Also, getting kited wouldn't be that bad if they could actually mitigate damage for a reasonable amount of time.

Also, juggernauts are bruisers.

You see the problem you actually have is not with the class itself it's actually the fact that about 60% of the champs in the class are outdated most of the champs that you named Yorick, Urgot, Aatrox are champs that have been reworked to fit in the current league of legends and champs like Darius, Morde, Trundle were made for the old league of legends. All the new champs have been kitted with at least one movement / CC ability which is why these champs are put at a disadvantage. Juggernauts are some of the oldest champs which were made to go in multiple lanes unlike almost all the champions today who have specific roles. An example of this Neeko is really good in the mid lane and ok everywhere else. Then you look at Morde who is kinda a support, kinda a top laner, kinda mid. He's everywhere. Purely because his kit is designed to be like that and not the same way many of the new champs are today. So these champs are versatile but not great at any lane. Not the same as more than 50% of other champs who are masters of a specific lane. Unfortunately, until old champs like these do get reworked you are only going to see numbers because Riot has a lot of work to do. They are already doing this for Morde and Panth (this year) and hopefully Volibear (next year) which is something to look forward to so don't give up hope on Juggernauts yet.
