so why are you even nerfing sona when sona 2.0 exists in nami?
seriously, sona's already close to being nami 0.1, with the nerfs she might be nami 0.01 or something.

Nami has an 850 range high damage poke?
Nami has a built-in shield to prevent ignite from securing kills?
Nami has an AOE movespeed buff for her entire team?
Sona is faaaar more oppressive in lane than Nami, and they are very different champions.
Ooh I can play this game too
Sona has a low cooldown CC to spam in lane
Sona has a huge heal what also does damage merging her Q and W into one convenient spell
Sona can buff her allies movespeed just by using a skill on them
Nami is faaaar better in lane then Sona, and they are very different champions

sonas q is not 850 the wiki is wrong
nami outranges sona @ 725 vs 700 nami also pokes for 2x what sona does with ebb and flow and she heals for 2x what sona does all while being way more mana efficient because its on one skill

Sona
Magic Damage: 40 / 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 Heal: 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 or at 1% HP - 45 / 75 / 105 / 135 / 165
Nami Magic Damage: 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 Heal: 65 / 95 / 125 / 155 / 185
Nami has better base heal and damage, and for half the skills

Yep and then check the manacosts and range.
Sona
Magic Damage: 700 Range, 45 Mana Heal: 80 Mana Total: 700 Range, 125 Mana
Nami
Magic Damage + Heal: 725 Range, 70 Mana
Nami has higher range and a lower mana cost, despite having better base heal and damage for half the skills.
Whoa whoa whoa, you forgot to add some important info:
Sona: Magic Damage: 40 / 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 +ON-HIT MAGIC DAMAGE: 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 (+ 20% AP) (+ 10 / 20 / 40) MUCH EASIER TO HIT MULTIPLE TARGETS, PLUS ON-HIT EFFECT BONUS Heal: 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 or at 1% HP - 45 / 75 / 105 / 135 / 165 HEALS YOU AND ANOTHER CHAMP + AOE SHIELD STRENGTH: 35 / 55 / 75 / 95 / 115 (+ 20% AP) (+ 10 / 20 / 40)
Nami: Heal: 65 / 95 / 125 / 155 / 185 ONE TARGET UNDER MOST CIRCUMSTANCES WITH DIMINISHING RETURNS UNLESS SUPER AP HEAVY Doesn't get a shield on her heal. Magic Damage: 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 with diminishing returns, no on-hit effect
Nami also often has to decide BETWEEN either healing or dealing damage, whereas Sona can do both regardless of positioning. You talk about her W like you can ALWAYS poke the enemy AND heal who you want. Typically if you want to heal a low ADC you can't heal them AND poke the team, since they will be playing safe.
You're ignoring half Sona's kit.
Sona tags herself and ADC with Q aura, it's an additional 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 damage. Sona shields herself and ADC for 35/55/75/95/115. Sona power chords for an additional 13-192 every 3 casts. Sona power chord trigger resets AA.
Equal skill, Sona crushes Nami in lane. Nami is probably some better in teamfights because more CC, but Sona R is the better initiation spell.
I also ignored half of namis kit too
did not even count her bubble or the on hit slow+damage
lined up, her flat heal and damage is essentially Sona's Q W and effectively her E all wrapped up in one tight skill
Nami Q is good, but it's a terrible trading skill. It's a 162 radius AoE and Sona can move ~290ish units in the time it takes to land. It's much more for peeling or herding than it is for trading.
Nami E is not strong enough to tip the scales in her favor. Even getting all three E charges off profitably is difficult.
It's not clear that Sona is better than Nami, as Nami has a lot of utility effects. It's super clear that Sona outtrades Nami in lane, though. Sona is a really bad lane matchup for other poke, sustain, or peel supports in general.

U know stupid ppl are still in majority in this planet we can't do shit about that.
Nami has an 850 range high damage poke?
Yes, Aqua Prison is 875 range. However, Sona's max range is 700, so Ebb and Flow out-ranges that at 725 too.
Nami has a built-in shield to prevent ignite from securing kills?
Nami has the 2nd highest base heal in the game, next to Soraka. That's good enough, regardless of Grievous Wounds. Sona on the other hand has the shortest duration shield and the weakest heal in the game.
Nami has an AOE movespeed buff for her entire team?
Yes.
is this the sona mains saying nami is better when they have a similar pick rate but sona clearly wins more? how can I be a 2.0 when im not doing better than the supposed original? Sona mains pls explain how the worse champion is doing better.

They'll just continue to pretend. In the meantime, here are some statistics: Feel free to stat check me on Lolking if you don't believe me.
Sona has a 53% winrate and 6% popularity in masters+ ranked soloqueue across all regions Nami has a 48% winrate and 13% popularity in masters+ ranked soloqueue across all regions
As you go down in league Sona's winrate remains the same, but her popularity increases. As you go down in league, Nami's winrate remains the same, but her popularity decreases.
In Master+, Graves + Sona bot lane has a 57% winrate w/ 140 games played In Master+, Graves + Nami has a 45% winrate w/ 262 games played In Master+, Corki + Sona has a 53% winrate w/ 54 games played In Master+, Corki + Nami has a 43% winrate w/105 games played
That's exactly what it is, and they're using arguments that don't include important information in order to present their arguments: like saying Nami does more damage with one move than Sona does (even though Sona's also applies an on-hit damage that pushes it over Nami's. Also when it hits two targets it does more damage overall than Nami) or that Nami's heal is higher than Sona's (Even though Sona's heal heals her AND her target AND gives them both a shield, resulting in much, MUCH more effective health than Nami's heal, even if she bounces it to heal twice).
Sona has cheap harass that can hit both people at a good distance. Her powerchord burst isn't scary until Q is lvl 3. Nami can poke but ideal is engage/disengage.
Sona has AOE buffs and an AoE CC; the more people she has around her the better she is. Nami has AoE CC and only movement speed related AoE buff.
They do different things even with similar kits and I feel the pre-season support "rework" with utility scalings is the real culprit...
Her distance with powercord is only 550 if you want to do any damage. Thats shit.
Compare that to Nami who is tankier, has longer range, lower cooldowns, and uses less Mana.
Nami is Literally a better Sona.
The argument that Sona can mid is really shit too, because guess who can mid MORE succesfully than Sona?
Nami.
Who scales better with AP?
Nami.
Who has better cc?
Nami.
The only thing Sona has the Nami does not is her W powercord, and once again, being that Sona is the squishier than a melee creep, she will die if she tries to use that lategame. Or even early game. Or you know, if the enemy has a brain.
The only reason Sona has a high winrate is because people dont understand how easy she is to kill. I shit you not, if A Leona auto'd Sona, and then a Graves q'd and auto's her 1 time, she would die.
If they want to nerf Sona, Nami needs Nerfs as well.
If they want to nerf Sona, Nami needs Nerfs as well.
I much rather we have the original aura champions back. There's nothing wrong with a "simple kit" in terms of League ergonomics or appeal to beginners, not withstanding that Sona has always the challenge of being squishy.

Oh trust me, I agree.
Sona either needs to be reworked again, given much stronger aura's, or have her nerfs undone.
I'm assuming riot will only consider one of two things.
Making her a bit tankier, or buffing her aura's.
Will it be anytime soon? I hope so.
Why are people replying to the sona circle jerk thread. Anyone with half a brain knows sonas has clear strengths over nami. They are using nothing but numbers and not the kit themselves
Fine, let's look at the kit.
Sona's abilities are focused around making 1 singular play, whilst your entire team is clumped together in melee range and everyone is auto-attack. Then, they are forced to move around in this tight circle, hopefully each having identical movement speed of each other. Thus making your entire team vulnerable to AoE effects and Sona herself becoming a prime target for inst-gibbing as being in the top 10 squishiest champions in the game. She doesn't have auras and instead relies solely on actives, 40% CDR is mandatory.
Nami's abilities are high-range, with amazing peel and decent engage. Her role is to support her teammates and boost their stats from a safe distance. No threat of 5-man J4+Ori+Gnar+Graves ult wombo-combos.
I don't know about you, but I personally don't enjoy insta-losing every teamfight just for utilizing Sona's current kit in the "proper" way. Sona is bottom tier trash now.
