Kog'maw patch 6.19

Aonraider··1 votes·1,691 views

Hey guys, kog has always been my favourite champion. i'm just not sure of the way i feel about the "un-rework" that he will receive. why would yu pick Kog over another champion like Jinx or otherhypercarries? what makes him special? And what will be the differences in playstyles from the present one (lane to teamfighting)?

FINALLY WHAT WILL YOU BUILD ON HIM? since triforce probably wont work cuz of reworked ult. i also want to know your personal opinion on riot's decision to bring back god old Koggi.

Be lucky he isn't getting nerfed 8 patches in a row until 42% winrate like Vlad

RekSai guttural sounds that resemble the word "hi"

reksai has been nerfed since release and has been relevant since then

She's sitting at a roughly 45% win ratio. Not as bad as Vlad, but still relevant to your comment

  • Triforce and the reworked ult have no real impact on each other. You mainly used the ult to get the proc once in the fight, anyway. And if you're in a fight, chances are there will be targets on fairly low health.

  • For the build, I think that Guinsoo's is still an option that is going to work fairly well. Especially since you are going to make use of all three stats.

It'll be a nerf.

Kog will have a weaker Ult and his base stats will still be nerfed from where he was last season. Only question remains 'how big of a nerf will it be?'

Can't be a Nerf on ult when it scales with ad and can easily snipe low hp targets more easy as opposed to the old kog

Kog won't have poke anymore. Being able to poke down targets at long range was where a pretty big chunk of Koggy's damage output came from. This means Kog will be losing his explosive ability to counter all-ins AND his ability to poke. And because he lacks any kind of mobility he can't aggressively start a fight. Kog will be completely at the mercy of whoever decides to pick on him.

read patch notes his r pokes hard with ad scaling

He has always lacked mobility

He can aggressively start fights by abusing fog of war to start fight by picking ppl off

ad kog will have more consistent dmg given the change in w

Ulting people above half HP is a waste of mana due to how low the base damage is on Kog's Ult. If you're shooting at things below half HP you aren't poking, you're on cleanup.

He has always lacked mobility

This is true.

He can aggressively start fights by abusing fog of war to start fight by picking ppl off

Do you mean hitting W and autoing someone over a wall? If Kog is 'starting fights' by doing that, he's asking to be jumped on by whatever hyper-mobile champ the enemy team happens to have.

ad kog will have more consistent dmg given the change in w

Not... really? The double attack speed effect is immensely powerful. Just the base damage on Kog's current W combined Fervor of Battle at level 1 is comparable to the damage old Kog's level 5 W deals. And that's before any items are added into the mix.

Ad kog was never meant to poke

Dunno if your referring to ap kog

Ulting low hp poke a lot

watch nb3 if u don't know how to abuse fog of war to pick off enemy (use mechniacs to outplay)

Get your math correct if it did the same amount why can't kog solo any one lv 1 without items

Try to play some real games not against Ai

AD heavy builds with a bit of magic pen poked just fine. Kog's base damage on R used to be pretty intense. The fun thing about Kog is how many different ways he can be built and still do decently.

I'm not sure if you really comprehend what poking means, but okay. If someone is at half or quarter HP the fight is already over and you should be cleaning up or taking objectives. Kog's new Ult is a cleanup tool.

I'm aware of how to do it, thanks. Used it all the time as a surprise tactic over in bottom lane Dominionland to close out games and snipe people taking capture-points.

You mean right now? He can. Not everyone by any means, but quite a few more champs than he could pre-rework.

I played Dominion for the most part, not Rift. I've hardly touched the game since Dominion was removed, just getting first win of the day and wishing Riot would stop removing features. Whilst in the Dominion hay-day I ran bottom lane more than a few times against imaqtpie when he was practicing his Yasuo and Fiora. If you ever get the chance, ask him if he remembers 'that fucking reindeer kog' from Dominion.

tl;dr: This will be an overall nerf for Kog from where he was pre-remake (the loss of base and scaling HP alone is pretty nasty). How much of a nerf remains to be seen. Rolling with Mura/Hurricane/Reaver might end up being the new way to go given Kog's Ult bonus AD scaling. But who knows? Guess we'll wait and see.

A nerf compared to current Kog'Maw, probably. A minor power redistribution compared to S5 Kog'Maw, most likely.

I'd say it'll push him into later into the game since you need levels On w to outrange adc who can poke and trade early

Pro is he'll probably do more dmg the later the game is extended and more consistent dmg Since the current kog needs w to be up to do dmg

Now that the changes are on PBE...

Riot buffed kogzilla on ap. max W w/ only 400 ap = 10% hp max damage per hit (he should average 700 ap.) q got % shred and it's aspd back (on top of increased? aspd per lvl from adc update not being removed).

i think riot listened to the steer "kog toward ap" prayers. im very happy w/ these changes.

remember mag dmg to towers makes aspd/ap decent for pushing since the midyear mage update. a lot of players having been ignoring that development.

s2 kog also gained luden's and thunderlords over the years. a lot working for the glass kogipillar atm.

and hey, if no one else is happy with it, im always down for more buffs.

Crits and the sustain will make him more adc like and up his skill cap since you will need to do more aa cancel to increase his dmg as oppose to current kog where you do near maximum dps just by standing still

How low/ willl his winrate be op or up?

I guess 2% up because most kog players are in the upper ladder rarely anyone uses him

both twitch and jinx do what your "aa based" kog does. in a healthy way. with a balanced kit around it.

pushing ap as the primary kog makes him unique simply because he will be the actual and only (unless you count teemo, but... shrooms) ap marksman.

he has clear weaknesses being a glass cannon with no sustain (life steal).

ap items fit him better thematically than ad does. This is an aside, but how does a sword make acid spit balls do more dmg? its doesnt make sense, but magical amplification from various enchanted items does make sense.

400 ap on kog is nashor rabadons and void. you still have space for hurricane, berserkers and guinsoos if you want. the aa kog still exists. with more max hp shred than ad (6% from w + jgl item) ever had.

So vs full tank team you build aspd and ap but vs bruiser or squishy teams you build classic dmg and crit? Im a kog otp so i play him vs everything
