Interesting idea for a Sona change

As we know, Sona's been having some problems making her kit feel satisfying to play, while at the same time being balanced, and able to display mastery of the champion. Her Aura theme doesn't really lend itself well to healthy gameplay. I'm not trying to get into the details since that's been spoken of before. I have an interesting idea that came from playing Overwatch's Lucio, that solves all of these issues.

Lucio plays similarly to Sona, except that his auras have infinite range. The catch is that allies have to be in line of sight to him. If this change were implemented to Sona, she would be able to express mastery through positioning in the right place to pass her auras to the maximum number of people. It would strengthen her identity as a Support who excels at teamfighting in wide open spaces. It would also be much easier to balance, and we would be able to allow her Auras to be strong while not being overpowered.

The downside is that League of Legends is a different game than Overwatch, and while it works in Overwatch due to the structure of the map, and the speed of the game, it might not work as well in League. This could be solved by giving Sona's auras a very large range, but not infinite, so that she isn't giving auras to her toplaner and midlaner while she has a line of sight to them through River while she is supporting, or giving people auras down mid lane from her base.

The exact implementation may vary and can be tuned, but I came across this genius idea and know that it has potential. What do you think?

It does have potential, but I think the range might be too long. What if Sona instead sent her aura to a certain area, giving her the ability to make zones?

So if she stands under the ally inhib turret she applies all her auras to every member on her team strolling down mid lane?

The mid lane team fight is the dominant strategy in solo queue and that makes maximizing her effectiveness sound pretty easy.

It also doesn't really mesh with the concept of her supporting through her music, sound doesn't really travel super long distance and it's weird that it would be stopped from losing line of sight.

Actually Lucio's music reaches as far as roughly 8 character lenghts

It wouldn't work in League.
