So if low mobility mages are the next class that Riot is tackling

Here's a list of what I believe to be their biggest strengths, and what they bring to a team.

Annie Initiator + burst Anivia Anti-siege Brand Teamfight+DOT Cassiopeia Initiator + DOT Karthus I LIVE, I DIE, I LIVE AGAIN Orianna high utility Lux Super long range + utility Syndra Anti-ADC Swain Bulky DOT TwistedFate Global presence Veigar hyper scaling late game Velkoz Teamfight (Focus on DESTROYING THEM WITH EYEBEAM LASER) Viktor GLORIOUS EVOLUTION (Evolving abilities) Xerath Long range, siege focused. What can we play up about Xerath that Ziggs doesn't have? Ziggs Lower range than Xerath, better teamfight. What can we play up about Ziggs that Xerath doesn't have?

Did I miss anyone or get anyone wrong?

Champs you missed: Malzahar Siege - AntiTank Zyra Teamfight - Zone/Controll Vladimir Teamfight - Sustain Heimerdinger Zone/Controll Rumble Engage - Zone/Controll

But overall - nice list. ^^ I mostly agree with your opinion. - If Riot decides to adress the immobile casters next they should design them in a similar way. :)

I disagree with a couple things.

Cassiopeia Was never supposed to be a DOT mage (Regardless of what the rework-denialists want to make you believe), nor does she play like one currently, her DOTs are the weakest part of her kit, she's an insanely strong sustained damage late game damage dealer, but she's not supposed to initiate (Because she needs to be backlining to unload that ungodly DPS), she's all about machinegunning them fangs.

Ziggs Used to have an identity as the tower eater, back when his passive was stronger and allowed him to prey on towers, down to the point where Lich Bane was a common buy on him (Before the big S4 lichbane nerf), since we have Tristana as the tower-eating ADC, we could have Ziggs as the tower-eating mage, with all of his tools being for poke and siege DURING the act of tower eating.

Viktor I don't think the means by which a mage does something should be the core to their identity, that'd lead us to a Lucian/Graves problem where both champions do the same in different ways. What Viktor DOES through his evolving abilities is control an area, you don't wanna get close to the lazer beam guy, you don't wanna teamfight on top of the gravity field and the ult, he forces uncomfortable positions on the enemy team, this is something he shares with Karthus who shouldn't be characterized by his passive either.

On the off chance she gets lumped into this category for some reason(Quinn got thrown in with ADC for some reason)

Ahri Kite and assassination

Kaipop11/22/2015, 8:47:15 PM1 votes

cass is more of a single target dps, and she has to get close to engage with ult so rather than saying intiator id say counterengage is a strength of hers

for syndra rather than just saying anti adc because she has strong burst she is also a champion that has to manipulate orbs well to get large stuns and has strong sustained aoe dmg too

I think you should include some other champions: zyra has strong teamfight capabilities with high aoe cc, dmg (burst and sustained) morgana has some support capabilities she is good at peeling and has great cc, dmg, and pick potential chogath has strong aoe cc and damage heimerdinger has strong laning, zone potential, cc fiddlesticks (i dont count his ult, which is used only for engaging with its long delay as mobility) has strong initiation and aoe damage karma has strong early game, utility, and poke malzahar has strong cc, dmg, suppression ryze has strong dmg, durable rumble has strong teamfight, damage vladimir has strong teamfight, durable

Ironclad Dragon11/23/2015, 2:05:45 AM1 votes

I sort of wish Xerath wasn't so long-ranged, and was instead the eye-of-the-storm. I would love it if his ultimate was more like this: https://youtu.be/u-8cSCFeTvM?t=41s

i never knew syndra was anti adc

Long range, siege focused. What can we play up about Xerath that Ziggs doesn't have?

Xerath is immobile with a lot more damage than Ziggs while Ziggs has minor mobility and better self peel with better wave manipulation and zone control.

Basically Xerath is Burst/Poke while Ziggs is Zone/Wave control/Poke.

Overall I would say that at the moment they're too alike though.

Chaotic Reks11/23/2015, 3:13:12 PM1 votes

Ziggs is great at taking turrets.

a small breakdown of the 4 longrange champs

Lux : sinper(long ranged burst) and controll/utillity, lowest dps between longraged mages

Ziggs : siege and controll(zoneing with W+E), superior tower damage, high aoe potential, superior waveclear.

Xerath : seige(spamable longrange poke) and sniper, more lategame focused than vel, better poke, easier to land snipe but with less impact, artelerie-ultm, Velkoz : Sniper and siege, more early/midgame foused, better aoe than xerath, but not as good at seting up sinpes on his own, less powerfull poke for siege than xerath, soft tank killer with truedamage.

xerath and vel are both siege+snipe mages, so i did a closer comparison to point out the difference between them.

I want Syndra-chan to be buffed.

Aside from that, I don't care.

alfavhunter11/25/2015, 10:28:10 PM1 votes

Anivia is getting nerfs... So it looks like they are forcing a PUSH PUSH PUSH meta on us

CoolKnightST11/25/2015, 10:36:13 PM1 votes

Ryze Vladimir Heimerdinger Morgana Malzahar Rumble Zyra

Not sure: Chogath Diana Fiddlesticks Lissandra Galio Mordekaiser

Malix Farwin11/22/2015, 1:00:45 PM1 votes

One of those things that look good on paper but currently does not function that way primarily. Furthermore without listing their weakness it makes them seem a whole lot better then they actually.

Ironclad Dragon11/26/2015, 1:53:47 AM1 votes

I don't play Malzahar, but I just thought of something. He's supposed to this prophet of an inevitable doom, right? Integrate that into his kit by emphasizing his sieging ability. Drown the enemy in a tide of teeth and chitin.

Nekolie11/22/2015, 3:35:08 PM1 votes

Ziggs is really the jack of all trades, master of none. Poke, Waveclear, Zone Control, Mobility, Burst, Map Control, Seige. He does all of them decently and I would focus cementing that role. Honestly, out of all the mages, his kit is probably the one that needs tweaking the least. He feels pretty different than most champions.
