I want to be able to play a champion in top that I can lane and not lose trades, farm, and eventually win off of roams and items rather than luck from someone's all in or 1% crit rune. Any suggestions? Right now I'm hovering

Weathered1 votesGnar seems semi safe to me, but I still sometimes have trouble if the enemy out pokes or out trades me often. Nidalee is very squishy even with her back line farming, but is that enough to be able to safely farm with champions like Riven and Graves in top?

have the tools they need to survive most lanes. They're some of my preferred top laners and they suit most situations.
can be quite tough to actually force out of lane due to their sustain and durability.
If you want to win off of roams/TP-ganks/global-pressure, I'd probably recommend:

Are your looking for a safe top lamer to just sit back and farm and get absolutely crazy strong late game? then Dr Mundo is your man.
Are you looking for a lane bully who trashed things like nasus and takes the enemy to planet out of the game from 0-20mins? Then you want pantheon or renekton.
Are you looking for a Mage that can support the team incredibly well late game, be a super safe farmer, and also do great damage? Try LuLu(I highly recommend lulu top, the more i play her top the more I fall in love). Or if you want to become the ultimate team player and carry your team by supporting them with a tank try Shen.
Are you looking for a carry champion that's safe at farming? Try fiora, or if you want AP, try lissandra.
Are you looking for someone that's tanks but can carry with decent damage? Try irelia or Olaf. It's not just one sided anywhere.
Weathered1 votesThanks. I've played Olaf and Fiora with some success, but Olaf sometimes gets out traded early and Fiora just feels dirty. Lulu has always looked interesting to play, so perhaps I can pick up her (I can always use a flex pick for mid and supp too). A lot of people are suggesting Renekton, and he looks great for early trades. Mundo is also fun, but I don't like playing champs who are too facerolly (like Fiora).
I think I might try out Maokai, Lulu, and Renekton on my PBE account before I spend some IP.
