Dear All Aspiring Support Players

Please don't hit the minions! Buy a support item! (to start out with at least)

Reason for this post:

I'm a former support player, attempting to transition into an ADC player. And I just lost a game due to my support starting item 1056 and constantly pushing the wave to the enemies' tower. These decisions handicapped the team completely, by putting us at a gold deficit, and in turn made me weaker and my opponent stronger.

I love all support players, and I appreciate what you do for the team. I even love you Blitzcrank players that don't land hooks in lane, but eventually land the hook late/mid game that secures the baron or enemy nexus. But please don't be the guy above.

whenever someone bottom doesnt buy the income item i usually make it a habit to buy it. no point in fighting over gold. there are 6 items now that build off of the 3 income items. not to mention the culling and such that grant additional gold. i dont understand why everyone doesnt start buying them. running back to top from a close call with the claim can grant a significant amount of lost gold. especially if you like to poke but worry about missing a last hit due to slow attack speed. the risky game played in mid can be turned to your advantage by tossing in an amulet coin or claim. there are all kinds of good reasons why you should buy the income items. gold and xp are the most important things about this type of game.

A good support player knows how to assist in manipulating the waves so that the enemy ADC has to over-extend to get cs, or how/when to push and how/when to freeze. Good communication between bot laners helps here, but even without it and given similar skill level, support players who attack minions at the right time consistently perform better than support players who never attack minions. Other times, the ADC will be under turret trying to cs; a good support player will know exactly when to throw an auto or two onto the minions so that the ADC misses as few as possible. It's not always so black and white. Sometimes, support players are in the right when they attack minions, and if they happen to screw up a cs now and then, it's not the end of the world.

I like the name, but I wanted to say this:

I don't have a problem with a support pushing the wave, provided that's what I want to do. When I want to freeze the wave and deny the enemy cs, and Annie is throwing all of her abilities on the creeps, it really fucks up my CS and puts me on tilt. You can play MasterYi as support and I will be fine as long as you don't hit the minions when I want to freeze.

The key here is (as it often is in this game) communication. Unless your support is deliberately trolling, if you tell them POLITELY not to push the wave, they should understand that they shouldn't attack the minions. If they can't understand these concepts, there's really nothing you can do. It's not like you're controlling their keyboards and can force them to not attack the minions. So if, after a few attempts, you can't get your point across, don't even bother trying anymore. Simply get what farm you can and ward as much as possible so you don't draw unwanted jungler attention with your constant pushing. At the very least you'll be able to take the enemy's tower faster with the minions constantly on it.

Jesus, what division was this in?

I've literally never seen a support that bad.

The support player helping to push the lane and deny the enemy farm is irrelevant- when I play adc, I'm calculating how much damage a minion will take from other minions before my auto will kill it. If the support is adding extra damage into that, they're throwing me off.

Every player is different, and I personally don't like my support to hit minions. If I ask you nicely to stop, please stop. If you continue after I politely asked, you're officially a jerk, no matter what your reasoning is.

This is different from standing in the middle of the lane and hitting minions just because you can.
