How to beat the kat?

I've noticed way too many of my games just come down to whoever has a kat wins. And no, it's not that my team fails to stop her ult. In fact, I often use Janna and just press r right when she ults and stop her ult almost completely. And yet, she still just carries their team and can just win 1v5 without even needing her ult. It seems that just pressing eqw does too much damage. Is there any good counter play for this? It's so hard when she chooses when she does it and it's so hard to do anything to her when she doesn't go in.

Play Safe. If you're below 40-35% of health. Go back to base. Is not worth to risk your life vs an assasin. And more important BUY WARDS so you can see her going to X lane to scrap kills.

If that happens SPAM WARNING to allies. Say'it with ping, make smoke signals, send them a E-mail, make Valor send a card, Say'it in chat. Say'it in /ALL chat. Just make sure that your allies aren't in a posicion to give her any kills.

I play a lot of Kat. Kat can't go in unless she can ensure a kill, or someone ventures too far from the rest of the team, or she/her team can ensure that she won't get focused and killed. Until then, all she can do is throw in Qs. Basically you don't let anyone get super low, and have some lock down and damage ready for her so that she can't dive in (or kill her if she does).

You are doing it wrong. Just played against a Kat who got a double kill at level 3 in a jungle fight. Decided to buy Mejais. Still got shut down by Nautilus + Zed.

You can't wait to get engaged on against a team with Kat. They'll stun you then Kat will kill you all. You have to engage them and KILL KAT INSTANTLY OR FORCE HER AWAY. If she doesn't go in, the rest of her team gets wiped. if she does, you stun her and delete her.

Kata has insane early game. You have to stay as much safe as you can - if she won't get tons of kills early and you have enough cc in your team, then lately she won't be a problem.

Well, you're certainly on the right track.

When support, items like item 3105 item 3190 help your team, and item 3102 helps you. Since Kat is technically an apc, she is a priority for cc, so save your cc specifically for her. Not just cc her, save your cc specifically for her. A good Kat waits until all the cc is used on the tank, then hops in for a pentakill.

If you go mid, cc is your best friend. Chogath I believe has a kit that essentially counters her (true damage melee ult when she ults, more sustain, better cc, can silence to prevent low health escapes).

Supports like Leona Annie Velkoz will make her life hell in teamfights.

So Janna's like bad against her since she has no engage? Wow, I need to stop using Janna against her.

In this tanky meta, she's not so bad anymore.

But you're on the right track, and most posts here are giving the right advice. The team must always save an interrupt for her ult.

I usually take Fiddle against her, Leblanc, and Zed. He counters them all, since a max'd Drain will win every trade. They usually have to roam to try and recover.

Her laning is not the best. Try to zone her out from cs as much as you can. In mid game try to not fight with her, don't go into stupid team fight and don't allow her to roam. If not fed later on she is not a very big threat. If fed try to cath her out before fight or try to destroy her with a well timed cc. Actually you only need brain and good cordinated team play agains Kata. But this is missing from most of the yoloq players so Katarina is very painful in yoloq.
