What balance team ignore. And why the game is unbalanced. /at least in solo queue./

It's first season patch so the data currently about how many players reached master are on one patch. Firstly let's compare high skilled champs that actually can carry Solo Queue on paper. Riven and Azir.

  1. There are 9 riven master players out of 10 best rivens in the world. https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/rankings/summoners/riven
  2. Their median of winrate is about 65%
  3. There is 1 azir master player out of 10 best azirs in the world.
  4. His winrate is 54%.
  5. Do you think azir players are less skilled then riven players ?

Now you may say that nobody plays azir. (fault of balance team anyway.) So let's compare champions with same play-rate. So let's compare Yasuo and Nami.

  1. There are 7 yasuo master players out of 10 best yasuo's in the world.
  2. Their median of winrate is about 58%
  3. There are 3 nami master players out of 10 best nami's in the world.
  4. Their median of winrate is about 62%
  5. So far not that concerning but let's look at 20 best players.
  6. There are 13 master players of yasuo.
  7. There are 4 master players of nami.
  8. Now you get the idea guess.
  9. Yasuo players argue that their champ is hard to play. But it looks like nami is harder to play. Since with same play-rate yasuo players achieve more master.

Now you may say that supports are not here to reach master bcs yasuo role is superior. (fault in balance team again). So let's compare same role with same play-rate. Let's compare Kai'sa and Lucian. Both adc arguably strong current same play-rate.

  1. There are 2 lucian master players out of 10 best.
  2. Since they are only two median is irrevelant.
  3. There are 9 Kai'sa master players out of 10 best.
  4. Thier median winrate is 62%.

Now you may say that Lucian is for low elo and Kai'sa is for high. (What is again fault in balance team, since both reuqire kind of same skill to play, therefore there is no reason for Kai'sa to be superior.) So let's compare same role with same play-rate in same division. Since best players are on master+ we need to compare in master. Let's compare Cassiopea and Zoe. Both have same playrate.

  1. There are 5 Zoe master players out of 10 best.
  2. Median winrate is 59%.
  3. There are 3 Cassio master players out of 10.
  4. Thier median is 65%.
  5. So far not that concerning but let's look at 20 best players.
  6. There are 9 zoe players in master out of 20. 11 out of 30
  7. There are 4 Cassio players in master out of 20. 4 out of 30.

And yet it was Cassio who recieved nerf and not Zoe.

Yep. Just as mentioned above, the game itself has had skill removed (obviously not entirely but large chunks of it) over time and is still getting more removed now. Slowly they are killing the best part of the game to make room for flashy plays and boring professional games based on who can play the most broken champion rather than who can macro play or team fight the best. It is a sad state of things.

So tldr. Why playing Azir like a god grant you Plat rank and playing riven like a god grant you Master ?

What OP fails to mention is play rate. You can't mention things like that and no include the playrate. Azir has a whopping 1-2% play rate. Riven hovers 4-13% and some times higher at peak times. Yasuo always has a 10%+ play rate regardless of champ's condition. That means that there's a higher chance for good players to make it up to the highest of ranks.

If one person can make it to master/challenger on a champion, that means that champ is viable enough for anyone else to do so. However, small sample sizes of people able to bring out the full potential of a champion, does not indicate whether a champion is problematic or not. So this is definitely not where the balance team falls short. This is a very short sighted post.

The macro of the game kind of dumbed down plus what macro there is is more common knowledge especially diamond+. Therefore what champ you play, especially one trick, is going to be highly more important than it use to be. Thats just how its going to be, only way to fix this would be to trim back all the obvious objectives that scream to be gotten and bring back the long more in depth strategic games. There's really no feasible way to balance everything so finely that the best players in the world get no advantages from playing certain champs.

Ya, it's what it all has come down to. Champions over actual Mastery of the game. It was already present in s8 with that you couldn't rank higher past a certain elo if you weren't playing any of the meta champions in a largely narrowed down champion pool, since unlike those others just simply can't compete nearly enough. Riot is playing favourites right now and it's disgusting. Meanwhile older champs are literally left in the dust, no reason to play them, won't pay off in the long run.
