I occassionally like to play Support as a secondary role

Yet whenever I put support as a secondary role _ I get it like 75% of the time _ which means I can never put it as my secondary lest I get support every game. Please Riot, change some weighting or something so that support secondaries don't get it more than 50% of the time. I understand that the system works to try to accommodate all but this is a very short sighted view. Myself and many others no longer put support as secondary just because of how often we get it and would be far more likely to put it as secondary if we actually got our primary role the majority of games.

I'm confused. Based on the new queue time notifications, I would assume that S is about half as popular as T, B, or J. SO obviously more supp players are needed. Why would you think that putting S in either priority would NOT get you S most of the time?

If you don't want to play S during a particular game, don't select it. If you are wanting to put it 2nd hoping that your % is more around 40 than 75 (from your post), then I think you are out of luck.

Have you considered that some people enjoy support enough to potentially put it as a secondary but that it is not their main role and they prefer another role as a primary? The problem with the current system is exactly as you described, putting support main or support secondary both give you support the majority of the time so what is my incentive to put support second? I'll put another role second instead so I get my main role more often and, as a result, the system gets less support players. I know many people who think like this and now no longer put support as secondary as a result.

there cannot be a change for support role picking without heavily increasing the time it takes to find a game, if you prioritize other roles the one that people hates will have even less people... I guess the solution lies in-game though so Riot has to make some heavy changes to the support role in order for people not to hate it I guess.

This is what I mean by short sighted view. In the short term you are correct but what you're discounting is that everyone who put support as secondary will no longer do because they're pissed off that they get the role 75% of the time when it's only down as secondary thus meaning longer queue times _in the future _.

It's not just game wise that has ppl leaving support role..

It's also about the community. People have fled the support role because they were tired of the flaming.

Plus, Support in any game is gonna be the least popular. In MMOs like WoW, Healers are the least played class.

Mobas, healers tend to be the least played role..

Why? Well, because most people don't want to support their allies. They want to dish out a ton of damage and practically be a 1 man wrecking ball.

So, no matter what updates Riot does to supports...it will always be the least played role in League...

Sincerely, A Support Main.

I agree that stepping away from support is a community thing, but I truly believe that the role itself is heavily watered down, no matter how many changes the supports kits go through, the truth is that, for the most part, the role is pretty passive and this is coming from someone who understands the value of an support who focuses on strategies instead of being a healing/peeling bot.

I do believe there are some things that could be added to the game in order to make the support role more interesting as well as solidifying enchanters' goals but I also think that Riot is against doing big scale changes to any role... for the record, Bard is probably what a support should look like, someone with incentives out of lane who can roam and support several lanes at the same time, sadly though, increasing the difficulty of the role itself has the opposite effect.

My suggestion would be to implement some sort of shrines throughout the map (eg. there could be one on the tree that serves no purpose inside the base, some others in some bushes and turrets could also have their own shrine) that needs to be captured by the support only, maybe through an item with specific stats (kind of what happened with chalice and how everyone steps away from this item) that interacts with exhaust like smite does with the jungler item...

this is but one idea, but basically getting support out of bot lane and making it have a global impact should be step 1 IMHO.
