If you're basically going to require smite to jungle, can you just auto assign it?

I just had two ranked games in a row in which the jungler forgot smite. It's punishment enough to force him to jungle without it, but not letting him purchase the jungle items is just extreme.

Please either force the smite, or remove it as a requirement from the jungle items.

or at least make a warning popup "you dont have smite equiped"

Honestly there's no reason for the game to not remember your rune, mastery, and summoner spell choices on a per-champion basis. It shouldn't load the config from last game, it should load the one I last used on the champ I picked.

We need similar pre game setup screen as Overwatch. Notes like "too many snipers."

In League we could have "no smite," among other things.

what if the jger and someone else trade roles how could the game enforce it.

I was hoping they would add an item specifically for this situation. A jungle item that is sub-optimal in use, but can be bought by anyone without smite.

Rusted Vine Cutter:
350 Gold +5 Health per 5 seconds while in the jungle +5 Mana per 5 seconds while in the jungle Your basic attacks deal 5 extra damage to jungle monsters.
You do not gain bonus exp from jungle monsters.

Just an example.

They'd have to force tweak the summoner spells in 'draft pick modes' that make use of 'assigning roles beforehand' and then make it only activate if they were placed as jungler. This kind of becomes a problem when a player wants to 'trade roles' to play a different role and have someone else take a jungler position and if smite is note a requirement for jungler items, then its going to make everyone be able to make use of jungler items even if they aren't jungling, some items get super broken on particular champions, even if you are only using raw effects such as item 1416, item 1402 and item 1401 which the 'easy early game % hp killer, huge mana recovery or even plain % hp gain can be extremely strong on ends, the only reason preventing some of these wierd comps on some champions are them being unable to play in the jungle position at least enforces balance so some of those champions can't use said items.

Could you even imagine how crazy some AP based champions would get if they could stack a bunch of % move items and have extremely strong AP scaling one shot poke damage and high mobility kits already built in?

Lets not even forget the situations where a team picks 2 champions that are both viable in jungle and in lane and due to the jungle champ the enemy team picked, they decide to trade positions to have a better 'counter' against that jungler then the originally composition they had, which can happen as late as after all players have picked thar champions.

They should auto assign it when you get a queue as jungle, but let you change it in case you want to swap roles

I think the problem is people afk'ing during champ select. People type in the chat things like: "SMITE!!! TAKE SMITE!!", but no one is there to read it. One small thing to change could be to make the client icon light up in the taskbar when someone types in the chat during champ select, just like it does when you receive a message from a friend. I know, from my personal experience, that draws attention to the client and might help someone watching youtube during champ select to open the client and see messages in caps that says: "TAKE THE FUCKING SMITE!!!"

I could get behind Riot letting you swap a summoner spell for Smite at the beginning of the game upon trying to buy either starting jungle item. as long as the player hasn't left the base or minions haven't spawned.

Example : "We noticed you trying to buy a Hunter's Machete without the Smite summoner spell, would you like to swap either of your current spell for it?"

Again, the suggestion is to have the summoners set when you get into champion select. So if you're not paying attention, you get smite by default. If you're paying attention. You can change it to whatever you want. There is no, "You're forced to take the spell with no available recourse", being suggested.

Because if that happened, then we wouldn't be able to have lane/role swaps. Junglers would be stuck with smite and practically forced to jungle.

Imagine if supports were automatically given summoner 3 as a summoner spell. Imagine if it replaced summoner 4 in the process of choosing a spot to assign it to. There would be uproar because people hardly ever change summoner spells. ADC mains generally get summoner 7 summoner 4 as their summoners. And if they get autofilled to support, then they go back to the ADC position and then they have summoner 3 summoner 4?

There is just no real way to implement it.
