If you win all 10 placement matches will you end up higher than what you ended last season?

Ended plat 3. Didnt change my mmr that much during preseason. If I ace my placement matches will I end up in plat 2 or plat 1? This is my second season playing this game so I am still a little bit unsure. Thanks.

You'll likely be placed lower than plat 3 even if you win all 10 matches

Probably not. 10 games is not a very convincing sample size. Also historically Riot has had lower Starting Ranks to encourage folks to put in more time to "climb" Even if that climb is just a slanted glide to a Rank when your just treading water.

NO

why would that be a thing? Placements have been a thing for over 7 years why are there more questions this year than all 7 other years combined?

No If you play all 10 games now, you will end in high silver-low gold If you wait for a while(1-2 weeks), you will probably end in high gold-low plat Thats how it works every year. You start lower than your previous rank, and in the beginning of the season everyone is packed in iron-plat

plat 4 last year. currently 4-0 and at Silver 1.

I'm kinda glad that they shifted to the left (lower ranks this year). Real cluster in gold... lots of people p4 and d4 that probably shouldn't have been.

guess will see what the distribution looks like this year. hoping to see healthy distribution. Feel bad for people in gold 3 who are literally playing with 60% of ranked players last season (s2-g1)

for the jerk in the room, last season placements, I was a rank higher than where I finished. More than likely because I gained a ton of ranks (and MMR) in the preseason. So, it is possible.
