With the problems that we've had with this game through all it's updates, we are on the 9th year of updates. Season 10 pre-season should be a new engine. We've updated the looks and the client and the log-in. But we're still on this 9 year old piece of software that has a variety of issues.
Please Riot, don't be a Bethesda. Update/change the engine.
You have no idea what that would involve, or how little it would solve.
It would be several years of expensive work, probably another year or two porting everything over to it, during which balance and updates would effectively be frozen, and another couple years of entirely new and different bugs and glitches.
LoL is one of the most bug-free games i have ever seen, by a massive margin, but there is no such thing as a game with zero bugs. The time and effort that would go into making a pointless new engine could instead go to fixing existing bugs (which is what riot is doing).
If you think a new engine will magically fix any and all problems this game has on the coding front, you are sadly mistaken.
Side note, people aren’t upset that Bethesda are using the same engine, people are upset they are using the same engine that has had many of the same bugs since its inception that they still haven’t fixed and basically just have modders do it.
