In a straight out duel where no kiting or running away is involved I think full build Olaf can vs any melee if built correctly.

well he wont be stunned and he has a couple tools to deal with counterstrike, so probably. There is always the idea that if you change items around the other can win and that usually ends up in a never ending cycle, but typical full build vs typical full build i suspect olaf wins.

I feel like they beat each other in the face then both fall over. Afterwards they go to a bar and have a beer, it would probably be a lot like the post fight scene from The Quiet Man.

Naw. Jax wins cause hes got all the dps to match Olaf while also negating a massive amount of damage with counter strike

Unless Olaf's by a wall then he can spam axe without missing autos then maybe but i still think jax wins

Jax just has to save counter strike for when Olaf is low.

Olaf wins. His sustain is incredible and has just as high DPS. I've actually seen this matchup play out quite a bit.

Olaf item 3153 item 3074 item 3143 item 3800 item 3047 item 3065 has 40% lifesteal, 1.7 attack speed and 300 AD with all actives on. He also has 350 true damage every few seconds. Also has something like 3500 HP and 200 armor so he's not easy to burst down.

Jax item 3153 item 3078 item 3143 item 3110 item 3111 item 3102 just can't compete in a head to head fight because he just doesn't have the sustain to do it and can't bypass Olaf's resistances.

but then there is switching up items and because only idiots always follow recomended items and dont know how to counter with items rather than champions and rather than having frozen heart and randious omen with passive that doesnt stack you could have randuins omen and thorn mail and a smart jax would ult earlier whent he fight starts and when they see olaf's hp leveling off with the damage he takes vs life steal he would activate e so negate all of olafs lifesteal healing. also why would jax have banshees viel instead of spirit visage when jax is the poster child for sustained fights and spirit visage would give himcdr for all his all ready low cool down skills for more trinity proc cdr for his longer skills like ult and dodge and more healing from his lifesteal allowing him to heal and fight longer

I assume typical game builds where you actually have to build tanky for teamfights.

Otherwise if its a pure 1v1 Olaf can just go item 3153 item 3071 item 3072 item 3065 item 3047 item 3143 and wreck Jax. Kite him when counterstrike is up, then go ham on him and never die with 60% lifesteal and 400 AD. Thornmail doesn't actually do anything against Olaf with 400 AD and 60% lifesteal because with Olaf's base MR + visage its actually only returning 12% or so of his damage. With 400 AD that's just 48 damage per auto. Meanwhile even if Jax has 300 armor in a specialized build and has 75% damage resist, Olaf is still healing for 60 per auto with lifesteal, not accounting for 30% armor shred from cleaver. With the armor shred, Jax only has 200 effective armor (2/3 damage reduction) and is taking 133 per Olaf auto, while Olaf is healing 80 HP per auto.

A single E from Olaf with this build does 400 true damage every 4 seconds. Meanwhile Jax has nothing that can go through Olaf's resistances.

Also Frozen Heart and Randuins do stack. Frozen Heart's Aura is not "cold steel".

olaf cant kite a fully built jax with out his ult at witch point his defense drops from ult passive gone witch can only happen once ever about 60 seconds while jax's ult is every 50 seconds in comparrision i was just saying vs olaf banshees viel is horrible item and not likely to be build over spirit visage and if you build randuins omen its really stupid to build frozen heart over it jax can rock any build olaf can and come out on top due to his counter strike and ult that gives defense rather than drops is cause olaf has no hard cc. if olaf ever uses his q to try to excape jax's counter strike jax always has a gap closer q to jump right back on him and stun him forceing olaf to use his ult and jax can use his until counter strike is back up and dodge jump and stun combo again olaf. i apologise for the mix up with frozen heart and randuins passives but its still not worth building both of them as dueling items when you could have thorn mails over randuins. olafs only chance vs a jax is pre 6 poke and building faster than him. not to mention jax has options he is common ad but he has hybrid synergy and ap synergy and he doesnt even have to build 'strong' items for any of them to work.

In lane? I guess Olaf can win. But in a 1v1 late game he'd get dunked.

Most likely Jax would win the trades. He can manage to E off most of Olaf's auto-attacks, more effectively when he reaches low HP. Jax gets to have bonus Armor & Mr, while Olaf has to loose both of them, plus getting extra AD that would do no good against Jax's E.

Olaf would be a nightmare to lane against for jax. but Jax would more often win in a late game match up 1 v1 if the player is decent. (assuming you can even play late game with the surrender rate nowadays

While counter strike is up olaf can just use Q and E. I dont get it. Jax literally doesn't have a single point in time where olaf cant wail on him. I think olaf would always win 1v1, but jax is just so much better in team fights and chasing in general.
